3, 1998.
You did so many things for us,
Your heart was kind and true,
And when we needed someone,
We could always turn to you.

congregation was “Meals on Wheels
and Water”. Cubans take nothing for
granted, they trust in God. Kaitlyn
told of how she had registered for the
exchange and showed a short
slideshow with many pictures of her
time in Cuba. She showed pictures
of people coming to a place to get
clean water. When the water ran out
there was no more until the next
time. Many went home without. She
told the story of a man who had a
small baby at home and didn’t know
what he would do without the water.
One of the exchange students went
back to their room and brought some
water from there. The man was so
very thankful. Another story she told
of delivering “Meals on Wheels”
which were delivered on bikes no
cars or trucks. They were mainly
delivered to poor people and those
that could not get out of the homes.
She told of one family so poor that
they had to sell their son’s
wheelchair in order to live. The son
had not been out of bed since. These
people thought of Canadians as
special people.
Cuban people do not waste anything.
If it breaks they fix it, even if it is just
a flip flop. There are camps in Cuba
that have people from the age of nine
to 60. The bus brings the people to
the camp for a week and takes the
people who are there back with
them.
The next hymn, “Jesus, You Have
Come to the Lakeshore” was sung
followed by the receiving of the
offering, offertory response, the
offertory prayer, the prayers for the
people and the silent prayers. The
last hymn sung was “Seek Ye First”
followed by the commissioning and
benediction and the singing
of the response “Go Now In
Peace”.
Kathy said Grace before everyone
went downstairs to a crockpot lunch
put on by the choir.

is sharing what little wisdom we’ve
acquired over the years. For Jill and
I, this weekend we shared how to get
a raw egg off the cupboard and floor
and a little later, how to remove the
contents of a glass of pink milk from
a cooling roast of pork – the glass
tripped I was told. So we both l
earned something and had a good
time doing it.
A lot of things are happening in
May, so be sure to mark them
down or you’ll miss some good
times.
Bye now, Betty G.W.
