Hamilton-Seeger said that
becoming a part of the group and
helping to run the program was a
natural progression for her andKlaus.“We participated in 18 years ofgarden parties,” she said. “We
hosted them and people would bring
food and plants and it would be a
great way for people to share plants
and experiences. It was a great
promotion of gardening.
“People got busy though, and,
three years ago, we started looking
at what we could do to share gardens
and gardening information with
people,” she said. “The garden tour
was born from that.”
With this year’s map prepared and
in the public, Hamilton-Seeger said
the group is already looking to next
year.“We have room to grow on themap,” she said. “We’ve already got people who are interested in
being a part of the program and
we used some space on the
map for things like gardening
tips, so we can add more,” she said.
Having the map ready was no
small feat, but Hamilton-Seeger said
it was an important step to makingthe garden tour successful.“We’ve tried to do the right thingsthis year,” she said. “We’ve made the
brochure and map, we have a
website up and we’re trying to take
advantage of all the marketing
opportunities in the area.
“There are so many opportunities
out there that promote Huron
County and the business, events andpeople there, so we’re trying to makesure we use that,” she said.Copies of the brochure can be
found at local businesses throughout
the counties. For more information
