After multiple injuries left Blyth-
native Justin Peters as one of two
viable goaltenders for the Carolina
Hurricanes for much of the NHL’s
shortened season, the team’s drive
for the playoffs has come to an end.
Peters, who has appeared in 19
games since March 5, finished the
season with an overall record of 4-
11-1 and a save percentage of .891
with a goals against average of 3.46.
In his last five games, Peters
notched a 4-2 win over the Boston
Bruins and one 4-3 overtime loss
against the Winnipeg Jets.
Peters, who was drated by
Carolina in the second round of the
2004 NHL Entry draft, 38th overall,
still has one year remaining on his
current contract with the Hurricanes.
He was moved to the top of the
Hurricanes list when goaltenders
Cam Ward and Dan Ellis both
suffered injuries earlier this year.
Peters holds the line for 19 games
