Junctionville, Lower Wingham, North Wingham, Turnberry Estates, Walton
The Municipality of Morris-Turnberry is hosting a “Large Item Pickup”
or “Treasure Swap” Day for all of the residents in the
URBAN AREAS on
FRIDAY, MAY 10TH, 2013
If you have any large items you would like to give away or dispose of,
set them out at the Curb by 9:00 am on Friday, May 10th, 2013.
Please identify items that are available to be “swapped” by tying
a piece of material on them.Any person looking for items must
remember that only the items identified with a piece of material are
available for taking. The Municipality is not responsible for items
accidentally removed by error, so all residents should ensure that all
items are correctly labelled or removed from the area.
Any items not “swapped” by Monday, May 13th, 2013, will be
collected on
Monday, May 13th, 2013
commencing at 9 am and transferred to the Landfill site. If you wish to
save any item not taken, please remove them from the curb before
9 am on Monday, May 13th, 2013.
Items that are available for collection are:
♦ Household furniture
♦ Appliances
♦ Barbecues
♦ Rototillers or other gardening tools
♦ Lawnmowers
♦ Lawn chairs and tables
♦ Clothing
♦ Refrigerators, freezers or air conditioners — only with a
“Freon Free” sticker.
The following items WILL NOT be picked up:
♦ Regular Household garbage
♦ Recycling materials
♦ Construction or Demolition Debris
♦ Tires
♦ Agricultural Waste
Belgrave UCW heading to Drayton Theatre in May
Ten members of the Belgrave
branch of the Women’s Institute met
at Knox United Church on Tuesday,
April 16 for their annual year-end
meeting. The meeting opened in theusual manner followed by readingson “Volunteers” and “WhatWomen’s Institute Stands for”.Dianna Robinson presented both
the secretary and treasurer’s reports.
Correspondence included an update
from Wingham’s North Huron
Museum and coming events they are
offering and also a letter from the
School Fair board.
Roll call was answered with
members paying their annual fees
and also reporting their volunteer
hours since the last meeting. A
display of items to be sent to Canada
Comforts and London’s Children’sHospital was viewed by thosepresent. Over the past year membershave made and donated many thingsincluding knitted dolls and teddies,
slippers, finger puppets, slings,
dishcloths, quilts, vanity kits craft
items and activity books, etc. Money
was also donated to buy some extra
things to send to these important
causes. Joanne Cook will do this
shopping on behalf of the branch.
Instead of a May meeting a day
trip to Drayton is planned. At
Drayton Theatre the group will be
entertained by Songs of Sinatra and
then have a catered meal. DorothyCoultes organized the tickets,payment and rides for this funouting.Plans were made concerning
hosting the Huron West District
annual to be held at Knox United
Church on Monday, May 27 at 6
p.m. Ruth Olson is preparing next
year’s programs and asks for
meeting convenors and ideas for the
meetings. Please contact her with
this information. A concern was
raised over outdoor lighting
at the church and will be reviewed
later.
During the annual meeting the
usual reports were given and
accepted. Wilma Higgins conducted
an In Memoriam service. New
branch members Mabel Jacklin,
Verna Norgate and Joanne Cook
received engraved name badges andwere welcomed warmly.District President DiannaRobinson installed the officers for2013-2014. These include: Nancy
Jardin, president; Verna Norgate,
vice president and Dianna Robinson,
secretary-treasurer.
Thank you gifts were given to
District President Dianna and
Belgrave Past-President Audrey
Fenton.
During the business session of the
meeting it was decide to donate
funds to One Care and also the
Hospitals of Wingham, Listowel,
Seaforth, Walkerton and Clinton.
The meeting adjourned and a
delicious lunch was served by Kay
Roberts and Doreen Marks.

Muskrat Festival
applies for permit
Public Works Superintendent
Kelly Church was recently
appointed as drainage
superintendent for North Huron
Township.
Church, who took over for former
Public Works Superintendent and
Drainage Superintendent Ralph
Campbell, took on courses shortly
after his appointment to the public
works position to make it possible
for him to be the drainage
superintendent for the municipality.

The Musical Muskrat Festival has
applied to be recognized as a festival
of community importance, allowing
organizers to apply for a licence to
serve alcohol during the annual
event.
The festival, which will be held
June 7 to 9, involves regatta boat
rides, a baseball tournament and
other activities.
North Huron Township Council
made the decision to approve the
request for the recognition during
their April 15 meeting.

North Huron Township Council
approved several documents that
will allow the Wingham Business
Improvement Area (BIA) to begin
collecting dues from its members as
well as outlining their practices,
procedures and roster of officers.
The BIA was officially formed
earlier this year, shortly after the
Blyth BIA celebrated its one-year
anniversary.

2013 SPRING YARD
WASTE COLLECTION
The Municipality will be picking up leaves, grass clippings and yard
waste in the Morris-Turnberry Urban areas on the following dates:
Thursday, May 2, 2013 and
Thursday, May, 9, 2013
NO BAG TAGS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS PICKUP!
Areas included:Belgrave, Belmore, Bluevale, Fringe of Brussels,
Junctionville, Lower Wingham, North Wingham, Turnberry Estates, Walton
Leaves, grass clippings and yard waste may also be delivered to the
Morris-Turnberry Landfill Site at 85047 Clyde Line, any Wednesday or
Saturday.
Materials MUST be placed at the curb in Biodegradable Bags.
Paper Organic Yard Waste bags,can be purchased at Stainton
Hardware and Hodgins RONA in Wingham, McDonald Home
Hardware and Huron Country Hardware in Brussels.
The Bags must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. for
collection.
The Bags will be picked up by a different truck than the regular
garbage.
Plastic bags are not acceptable for yard waste and will NOT
be picked up.
The Municipality encourages grass clippings to be left on your lawn
providing valuable moisture and nutrients to your lawn.
Residents should not include tree branches, which are greater than 4"
in diameter and 5 feet long. Use strong twine to bundle tree or shrub
branches.
Yard waste DOES NOT include sod, soil, lumber, tree stumps or
stones and must be free of metal, food wastes and garbage. The
Municipality will NOT pick up loose branches!

Giving back
The Belgrave Kinsmen presented a cheque for $500 to Melissa Pyke, a Cystic Fibrosis patient
from the community on Friday night. The Kinsmen hoped that the money might help cover
