The Citizen, 2013-04-04, Page 18PAGE 18. THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, APRIL 4, 2013. Continued from page 12 none of us are objects waiting for death. After Easter morning, all of us are subjects, children of God, invited to life now and forevermore! The Resurrection of Jesus is the sudden declaration by God that we are someone and never just something! You and I are subjects, not objects; called to live in a culture of life, even amidst death. On Easter morning 2008, driving from Beamsville to Simcoe for a sunrise service, I came over the top of the escarpment from where I lived to be caught and captured by a beau- tiful Easter egg. A doe appeared, cautiously leading her clearly hours- old-fawn across the road to the safe- ty of deeper woods. The unbeliev- ably spindly legs of the recent new- born were barely working up and down, and far from co-ordinated; I waited probably 10 minutes watch- ing as that baby figured out how to pick up one leg then another, making her way across the roadway. At last mother and baby reached the grass and the safety of the thick woods. I went on, the trip transformed by a simple, ordinary, event. Sometimes Easter eggs are like that, while at other times they are “all in our heads;” the explosion of a dazzling “a-ha,” or mind-blowing “wow,” ideas that alter our perceptions and transform our lives. The meaning of life coming, from connections and connexions, not as collections of things! Christ is raised! We are a risen people! We are a rising people! Rise up and LIVE!
