Condolences from the village are
extended to Cheryl Jefferson who
last week lost her sister to cancer.
Susan (Jefferson) Pursianen, 50, of
Alliston leaves a husband and two
children to mourn her passing.
Susan was an elementary school
teacher. Sympathy is also extended
to Don and Marie Jefferson and
family of Clinton.
Bert Lyon was complaining last
week of a cold that was making him
feel quite under the weather. On
Saturday morning he was feeling so
tough he decided to seek medical
attention at the Clinton Hospital.
Seems he was carrying around a
case of pneumonia. To complicate
matters his heart was misbehaving.
At time of reporting Bert is in St.

By Morgan HowsonLast week at Hullett Central
Public School students came back
from March Break which was much
enjoyed. In the Grade 1 class in the
computer lab they all logged onto
Raz-kids, an online reading
program. This program can be
accessed both at home and at school.
It allows the students to work at their
own level by practising reading,
listening to stories, completing
quizzes and recording stories. As
they complete each activity they
earn stars, which can be used to
create their own space station. It is a
fun way to develop reading skills.
Also in the Grade 1 drama class,
everyone had a chance to take part in
a presentation of the play, “The
Three Little Pigs”, using their own
puppets as props. They presented
their plays to other primary classes
on Friday. We may have some futureactors and actresses in this class.
The Grade 2/3 class practised their
listening skills by sharing with a
partner what they did during March
Break and continued working on
reading responses. In math they
started a math unit on probability
and continued their EQAO work. That’s all for this week.

This week we dashed into fractionsand are working on addition of

The science of crossbows
Jordan Shortreed, left, and Kaleb Wilts of Hullett Central Public School crunched the numbers
for their school science fair and have definitive proof that crossbows are awesome and the
weapon of choice in case of a zombie apocalypse. Their experiment earned them top spot in
the competition. (Denny Scott photo)
