NH reps meet with Ministers at ROMA/OGRA
Reeve Neil Vincent of North
Huron Township briefed his council
regarding meetings he had at the
Rural Ontario Municipal
Association (ROMA)/Ontario Good
Roads Association (OGRA)
combined conference held inFebruary and stated that he feltNorth Huron’s concerns were heard
and received well.
“We had four minister delegation
sessions starting off on Sunday with
the Minister of Municipal Affairs
and Housing, Linda Jeffrey,” he said
at North Huron’s March 4 council
meeting. “We stated who we were, where we came from and that we,like all small municipalities, want to
focus on economic development,
keeping jobs and maintaining
population to be able to maintain
services that we provide. I would say
our message was well received. The
minister was knowledgeable about
the points we were asking.”Vincent said that on Monday, he,Councillor Brock Vodden and Chief
Administrative Officer Gary Long
met with Jeff Leal, the Minister of
Rural Affairs. He said that their
meeting was productive.
“Talking especially for
municipalities like us, we explained
that we need a little bit morefreedom in the Provincial PolicyStatements as they relate to
agriculture lands,” Vincent said. “We
told him we need wiggle room to
have enough commercial and
industrial property on the edge of
our built-up areas. That was well

greeted worshippers and handed out
the bulletins at Knox United Church
on Sunday, March 10, Lent 4.
Rev. Tom Murray welcomed
everyone on Daylight Saving Time
which begins on the second Sunday
of March every year.
The clocks will remain that way
until November 2 when Daylight
Saving Time ends. Birthday
greetings were extended to Austin
Bieman who celebrated his seventh
birthday and to Florence Cartwright.
Congratulations to Emily Bieman on
getting third in the skating
competition and to Tyler of Owen
Sound (grandson of Tom) with his
curling team coming in third with
the Provincial Bantams. The
children’s chimes consisting of
Emily Bieman, Austin Bieman and
Hayden Jamieson entertained with a
selection directed by Ann Clark.
Austin lit the Christ Candle assisted
by Rev. Tom Murray.
The call to worship was read
responsively followed by the singing
of “Love Divine, All Loves
Excelling” and the morning prayer.
After the senor choir sang “God of
Still Waiting”. Rev. Tom shared a
story with the children entitled, Lost
and Found” and asked the children if
they had ever lost anything. Rev.
Tom told them the story of a father
who had two sons. The youngest son
was tired of farming and wanted his
share of the money. He left home
and after using up all his money, he
went to work for a farmer for awhile
and then decided to go back home to
his father. His father celebrated his
return with a barbecue and said his
son was lost and found again.
God is like the father. He always
welcomes us back with open arms.
After The Lord’s Prayer the children
adjourned to Sunday school.
Readings were from the Letters of
Paul, 2 Corinthians 5: 16-21 and the
gospel lesson was from Luke 15: 1-3
and 11-32. God’s word was “All
Fear Aside, We rest in Hope and
Grace”.
John Nixon and Susan Jamieson
took up the offering followed by the
offering praise and offertory prayer.
After the compassionate praise
was read responsively, the closing
hymn, “Amazing Grace” was sung
and with the singing of “Go Now in
Peace”, the morning worship was
brought to a close.
The flowers at the front of the
sanctuary were placed by the Rinn
family (Florence, Lois, Linda, Betty,
Gordon and Murray) and families in
loving memory of Mae Rinn.
