With the home team pumped up and keen to show Seaforth what they were capable of, Blyth Brussels got on the scoreboard early in the game with Blake Porter scoring unassisted. Not ready to rest on their laurels, the team pressed on and Blyth Brussel’s Nathan Brown received a pass from Josh Plunkett to increase the squad’s lead to two. Seaforth put on the heat by tying up the game by the end of the first period and took the lead by the end of the second period. Both teams were very hungry for the win but Blyth Brussels managed tied up the game with Cole Zwep getting a pass from Rylee Chalmers. With back and forth play and only eight seconds left in the last period Zwep got a hold of the puck, skated his way up the ice and shoved it in the net to take the lead and ultimately the win. The team also recorded a 3-2 loss to the BCH Ice Dogs on Saturday, March 2. They next take to the ice against the Seaforth Stars on Thursday, March 7 in Seaforth. The puck drops at 6:30 p.m. The road to victory The Blyth Lions Club hosted a hockey tournament over the weekend for both men and women. On Saturday the men were in action as Scrim’s took on Wheez Boys. Scrim’s won the game by a score of 5-2 and would eventually go on to win the tournament.
