Miller) “Be joyful always!” 1 Thessalonians 5:16 “In all our affliction, I am overflowing with joy!” 2 Corinthians 7:4 Thankfulness or unthankfulness is largely a matter of the attitude of our heart. Two men look at the same scene: one sees the defects and the imperfections; the other sees the beauty and the brightness. If you cannot find things to be thankful for today, and every day--the fault is in yourself, and you ought to pray for a changed heart--a heart to see God’s goodness and to praise Him. A joyful heart transfigures all the world around us!It finds something to be thankful for in the barest circumstances, even in the dark night of the soul. Let us train ourselves to see the beauty and the goodness in God’s world, and in our own circumstances--and then we shall stop grumbling, and be content and thankful in all situations. “ A happy heart makes the face cheerful!” Proverbs 15:13 “The cheerful heart has a continual feast!” Proverbs 15:15 “A cheerful heart is good medicine--but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” Proverbs 17:12 A Grace Gem Submitted by: Immanuel United Reformed Church, Listowel, ON 519-291-1956 406 Mill Street (corner of Dinsley & Mill), Blyth 519-523-4793 • www.spaessentialsblyth.com would like to welcome Emma Wilts to their staff Emma is a certified Esthetician, Reflexologist and Nail Tek. At Monday night’s council meeting Economic Development Officer Connie Goodall explained that this was the next step in the business retention and expansion plans being executed in Wingham and Blyth. “The survey will be out by the end of the week,” she said. “It gives the community the opportunity to make comments on local businesses.” The survey is available online through the municipality’s Facebook page and by the end of the week it should be available across the municipality. The bulk of the survey deals with where and when individuals shop for specific purchases and how often residents shop in their community. Consisting of seven pages and 14 questions, the survey’s results will be tallied with the business retention and expansion survey results that were completed in 2012 to help form a complete picture of commercial business in North Huron’s wards. Once completed it can be dropped off at the Auburn District Co-op, the Queens Bakery in Blyth, Belgrave Variety or the North Huron Municipal Office in Wingham. The call to worship was the singing of two hymns, “Where Two or Three are Gathered” and “You are Holy” followed by the prayer of approach and the singing of The Lord’s Prayer. The scripture reading was from Luke 4: 21-30. The children were asked to come to the front for their story time. Rev. Clark told the children that everyone is precious to God. You can always say a kind word to someone. It is also kind to help someone save something that is precious to them. He demonstrated this by having a glass jar on the altar table that was precious to him and giving it a little push and asking the children how they can help to save it. A couple of the children pushed it back on the table and stopped it from falling. The children went downstairs for their time of fellowship. The choir sang the anthem, “The Answer’s On the Way”. Rev. Clark’s message to the adults was “No Leader? No Wonder.” The next hymn, “Where Cross the Crowded Ways of Life” was followed by the receiving of the offering, the offertory response, “In the Bleak Midwinter”, the offertory prayer, the prayers for the people and silent prayers. The last hymn, “Walk With Me” was sung followed by the commissioning and benediction and the singing of the response, “Emmanuel”. Everyone was invited for coffee and treats and to enjoy the fellowship with one another. 428 Queen Street, Blyth Your Hosts: Peter and Sarah Gusso Make your Valentine’s Special at Part II Bistro Enjoy your 3-course candlelit dinner in a romantic atmosphere prepared by the winner of the 2012 Huron County Chef Challenge.
