Eunice Hennessy, twin daughter
of Mrs. G. Hennessy, had a narrow
escape at Grand Bend recently. Her
Companion, Charles Corbett, of Lu
can, was unable to rescue hex* when
the pair had ventured too fax’ from
the beach. Artificial respiration
was applied on both the girl and boy.

CYRUS BALKWILL PASSES
AFTER A LONG ILLNESS
WINDSOR—Mr. Cyrus Balkwill
passed away on Friday, August 14,
in Windsor, following a three-year
illness due to a stroke.
The deceased was born near Exe
ter, in 1862, third son of Silas D.
Balkwill and Mary Jane Taylor, In
1875 the family moved to Essex
County, where Mr, Balkwill spent
the greater part of his life.
He leaves to mourn his demise

Death of John Patterson
The death of Mr, John Patterson
occurred at the Metropolitan -Hos
pital, Windsor, on Sunday, August
23rd, 1942. Deceased had been

numbers. The pastor, Rev. Reuber,
preached a very acceptable sermon
on the subject: “Clean Windows.”
The Crediton Women’s Institute
are again making jam fox' overseas,
and are asking the ladies of the
community to help. They are ask
ing fox* donations of money and
fruit with the exception of apples
and elderberries. Donations are to
be left at the town hall Tuesday,
September 1st. All ladies are asked
to help.
