LOCALS A pretty wedding was solemnized at the Church of Christ’s Disciples, London, on Saturday, June 27th, at 3 o'clock, when Dorothy I. Carri­ gan, daughter of Mrs. C. Colbert, of London, was united in ‘marriage to John L. Westlake, youngest son of Mrs. Westlake and the late Henry Westlake, of Exeter. Rev. Benja­ min Eckerdt officiated. The bride, given in marriage by her grand­ father, Mr. F, Mallett, was charming­ ly gowned in a floor-length dress of white satin made on princess . lines with a fingertip veil arrang- | ed with a sweetheart bandeau and carried a bouquet of red carnations ‘ and fern. Miss Winnifred Merrill, girl friend of the bride, was brides­ maid, wearing pale green net over satin with a matching bajndeau. She carried white carnations and fern. Dawn Nellis, cousin of the bride, was the flower girl, prettily dressed in blue silk jersey and car­ rying pink roses and fern. The groom was assisted by his brother, Mr. 'Charles Westlake, of St. Cath­ arines. Lohengrin’s wedding march was played by Mr. George. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Hamilton returned home on Sunday after spending two weeks at their cot­ itage at Grand Bend. Mr. and Mrs. William Passmore and Mrs. Arthur .Francis visited with them for a few days. Mr. W. H. Johnston had a plea­ sant call on Saturday from his niece, Mrs. Percy Graham and daughter, Miss Blanche, of Port Albert, and her sister-in-law, Mrs. (Dr.) Mere­ dith Graham, of Goderich. Mrs. W. Goodison, of Sarnia, Miss Crocker, of Ottawa, are guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. man. Mrs. Taman visited for a week in Sarnia and the ladies ac­ companied her home on Tuesday. Rev. E. Grigg was in Chatham over the week-end and conducted the services on Sunday in William St. Baptist church. Mr. Grigg was interim pastor at William St. church for several months follow­ ing his return from Burma. Captain W. L. Lawson, of Kitch­ ener, spent the week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Lawson. Mrs. W. L. Lawson and Jimmy, who have been visiting here, re­ turned with him and will take up residence in Kitchener! Wesley had’ gone fishing with the principal of the public school and his wife and a number of the senior pupils. They had worked upstream when five of the boys, including Wesley, turn­ ed back, When near a swimming pool Wesley waded into the water and apparently stepped into a hole beyond his depth. A couple of the lads waded in with their clothes on and with a pole -tried to give help to the struggling lad but to no avail, ‘ At the funeral the older pupils of the .public school and the principal attended in a body, also the members of the Irma L.O.B.A., of which Mrs. Pile Is the Worthy Mistress, Mr. Pile, father of -the lad, was a former resident of Hen­ sail.
