Ernest Grigg left on Tues- J day for Toronto, where he will visit for three weeks. --------V--------- Signalman William Higgins, late of the Active Army Trade School, Hamilton, is spending this week With his parents, Mr. and Mrs* Robt. Higgins, and other relatives. He leaves on Saturday for Gamp Borden, where he will join a radio unit of the new 5th Canadian Ar mored Division there for active When the Exeter 1st Hussars was summer, Bill enlisted and trained here for a few weeks, later securing a position at Kitchener. He joined up with the Kitchener Scottish Fu siliers, taking special courses in 'signalling work. O.n May 1st he was sent to the Army Trade School at Chatham, taking an electrical course. *Two months* later he was sent to the school at Hamilton, tak ing up radio, telegraph and signal ling courses. Hfe passed all his examinations successfully and is being sent into active service with the 5th Armored Division’s Radio Unit. Bill’s many friends here and at Hensall wish him every success. ■ v <« I ju —.-----y----------- Mr. and Mrs. Dave Gordon, Ann and Keith, left Saturday last for Toronto where Mr. Gordon has ac cepted a position. Mr. Gor don was the former manager of the Huron Lumber Co. Ann and Keith were students at the Exeter High School and were popular with the young people of the town, many friends of the family in Exe ter will follow them with their best w-ishes. A good attendance was present show ing the Interest which is taken in Sunday School work. *phe financial report was read by the secretary treasurer, Stewart Triebner, show ing besides expenses for supplies, a missionary offering of $99.02 for the year. The report also showed an increase of 25 per cent .in the average - attendance for the year. Mrs. Eldon Miller, the missionary literature secretary, read a letter of appreciation from the missionaries in the British West Indies; thanking the local group for used Sunday Schoo-l papers and picture rolls which were sent to them.
