Donald Munn Underwent ah opera­ tion for the removal of his tonsils in Hensall on Thursday. His sis­ ter, Miss Helen Munn, ft.N., of Lon­ don, attended. Mrs. Fred Beer, and Mr. Pat Au­ bin, were the winners Of the mats at the Bingo on Saturday night. Tickets Were sold oh those mats and the proceeds „will be used for war purposes. Rev. Mr, Bremher, of Seaforth, conducted the service in the Un­ ited Church, on Sunday morning and Miss MacBohald of Toronto, presided at the Organ. Mr. T. J. Sherritt contributed a solo entitl­ ed "He Lifted Me,” Arthur Traquair, accompanied by Grant and Keith MacLeun, are attending Toronto Exhibition this week. Mr, and Mih. Mack Rosser, of Blenheim, apent the week-end with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Russell, Hensall. Mr. and Mrg. Robt. Moore ana family moved this week to Lindsay where Mr, Moore will operate a grocery store, Mr, Moore has been principal of the continuation school here for the past seven years. . The sympathy of the community is extended to Air. and hlrs. Hugh Morenz (nee Annie Coleman) of Dashwood, in the death of their in­ fant son, Ronald Milton Wesley, who passed away- on Saturday. Fun­ eral service was held at the home ou Sunday, at 2.30 p.m. Interment was made in Grand Bend Cemetery. Mr, arid Mrs. Wesley Coleman and family and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cor­ bett and family attended the fun­ eral. > A very enjoyable evening was spent at the home of Miss Mattie Elliston Monday evening when the teachers of-.the school staff were en­ tertained. After a social half-hour was spent, bridge was played and a delicious lunch served. Mr. Claude Blowes, principal of the public school, addressed Mr. Robt, Moore, former principal of the con­ tinuation school, who is leaving here this week, in his usual capable man­ ner, expressing the regret of the school staff at losing Mr. Moore and presented Mr. and Mrs. Moore with a silver casserole. Air. Moore made a fitting reply. Mm. Moore replied thanking the members of the Institute for the beautiful gift. Refreshments were served. Institute Makes Presentation A very enjoyable evening was spent at the home .of Mrs. Ken, Hicks on Thursday when the mem­ bers of the Hensall Senior Institute gathered in honor of a valued mem­ ber, Mrs. Robert Moore, who is leaving town this week and moving to Lindsay. During the evening a sing-song was. enjoyed, led by Miss Greta Lammie, after which the Pre­ sident, Miss Beryl Pfaff, directed1 a quiz, which was followed by hu­ morous contests and games. Mrs. Moore was'' then called upon and presented with a handsome rose bowl by Mrs. G. M. Drysdale. The following address was read by Miss Beryl Pfaff: Dear Mrs. Moore: We, the members of Hensall Sen­ ior Institute, have learned with sor­ row that you have decided to leave- us. We feel that we are losing both a faithful worker and a dear friend. You have always shown such a deep interest in our meetings and have done your part so faithfully and -well, that we are going to find it hard, to get along without you. We hope that pleasant memories, of our happy associations will always exist, and you ican be assured that, wherever you go, our good wishes will always go with you. We just could not let you leave us without giving you something, the sight of which will flash "our In­ stitute” to your mind, so we would ask you. to accept this little gif.t, not for what it is worth, but as a token of our love and esteem. Mr. John Robertson is at present building a stable, getting ready for the winter. Due to the rain the frolic was held again on Thursday night, when another large crowd attended. The program was held on .Wednesday night when Dr. G. Jose, Kirkton, was chairman.1 The program consisted of a Scotch Song by Reuben Sweitzer, of Kirkton; ■chairman’s address; solo by Hazel Heim; nuiriber by the Johnson fam­ ily; solo by Mrs. Margaret Fletch­ er;/ reading by Mr. H. Southcott; reading by Mr. Wheeler and a speech by R. E. Pooley. On Thursday night there was dancing, Bingo and oth­ er games as well as refreshments’. The proceeds amounted to over $300. There will be no church services held on Sunday as the Memorial Service will be held. Memorial Service will be held on Sunday afternbon, August 31st, at 2.30. The guest speaker for the day will be Mr. Merriam of Centralia. There will be special music and the soloist will be Mrs. A. Berryhill.
