village after spending several months

Mr. Philips, organist of the Lu
theran Church in Detroit, who is on
vacation at Grand Bend, played at

Arthur Rickert Succumbs
Mr, Arthur Rickert passed away
suddenly at his home in Hay Town
ship on Tuesday, in his 49th year
following a short illness, The de
ceased was a bachelor and resided
on his farm, with his mother, who
survives him. Two sisters, Mrs,
Gordon Pybus, Hensail,a and Mrs.
Norman Pybus, .London” also sur
vive.

The regular meeting of the Wes
tern Ontario Veterinarian Associa
tion met at the ‘Ainslie Farm’’
owned by the president, Dr, A, R.
Campbell, two -miles southwest of
Hensail, on Friday. About thir

was held during the afternoon,
when operations were performed
on various animals, A delicious
supper was served on the spacious
lawn by Mrs. Campbell and Mrs.

Post-Nuptial Shower for Brides
A very^-pleasant evening was spent
at the home of-Mr. apd Mrs. Robt.
Thomson on Saturday evening in
honor of theii’ daughters, (Hazel)
Mrs. David Moyer, and (Dorothy),
Mrs. Richard Cornish, who were
married recently, when theii’ neigh1
bors and friends presented them
with a miscellaneous shower. A
sing-song' was led by Mrs. Malcolm
Pougall at the1 piano and a mock
wedding following, which was very
humorous, Those taking parts were
Miss Mabel Workman, Mrs. Ernie-
Chipchase and Miss Beryl Pfaff.
An address was read by Miss Mar
garet MacLaren and the brides
were presented with many beautiful
gifts. Both extended sincere thanks
and refreshments were served.

The marriage of Hazel Thomson,
daughter of Mr, and Mrs. * Robert
Thomson, Hensail, to David Moyer,
.son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Moyer, of
Parry' Sound, was solemnized in
Parry Bound on Monday, July 7th
by Rev. ,Soperv The bride chose a
dusty rose dress and hat with white
accessories and wore a corsage oE
roses and maidenhair fern. They
were unattended. Following the
ceremony the young couple enjoyed’
a motor trip to Barrie, Goderich and
Hensail, spending a week With the
bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robt.
Thomson. Prior to her marriage the
bride was the recipient of rifany

The July meeting of the W.M.S,
of Carmel Presbyterian Church
was held on Thursday afternoon
with Mrs. Jas. Patterson presiding.
Following the opening hymn Mrs.
Jean Manson led in prayer.’ The
Scripture, Psaim 20, .wad read by
Miss Jean Dpugall. The August
meeting will be held at the home of
Mrs. Hannah Workman. The topi^
on “The Issues of Life” was v'ery
ably taken b$ Mrs. Jas. Patterson.
Mrs. Malcolm DougalL favored with
a piano solo. Mrs. C. Hudson gave
an interesting report of the Ontario
Provincial meeting held at Br'ock-
ville recently. The meeting closed
with a hymn and the Lord’s Prayer

The Late Mrs. Andrew Love
Thera passed away on 'Friday at
her home here Mrs. Andrew Lovb?
in her. 79th year, following a two
’months’ illness. The deceased' was
taken ill and was confined to St,
Joseph’s Hospital, London for sev
eral weeks, where slip received
treatment, and later was brought to
her borne here, where two registered
nurses have been in attendance. For
merly Rebecca Young, a daughter
of .the late Mr, and Mfs, Gordon
Young, of Colborne Township* the
deceased moved to Hensail nine
teen years ago from the farm at
Hillsgreen; she was a member djf Carmel Presbyterian OhtU'ch/
tile Ladies* Aid Society and the
W.M.S. and ah active worker of the
Bed Cross Society.

week the Centralia W.M.S. enter
tained the Mission Band and Baby
Band at their regular monthly meet

The Centralia United Sunday
School held their annual picnic at
Grand Bend on July 11th The usual
good time wa§ enjoyed by *all. The

Mr. Albert King acted as host to

Sunday School Picnic
The Evangelical Sunday School
held their annual picnic at Grand
Bend last Wednesday. The sports
program was under the convenership
of Miss Ella Morlock, assisted by
members of the Sunday School.
There were about 110 present and

W. M. S. Meeting
The July meeting of the W.M.S.
was held at the home of Mrs. Fred
Pattison, with an attendance of
twenty members and two visitors,
Mrs. Edgar Rodd’s group was re
sponsible for the programme. Mrs.
Cecil Camm conducted the devotion
al part of the meeting and Mrs. Pat
tison, the president, looked after
the business discussion for a short
time. A hymn was sung and Mrs.
Edgar Rodd conducted a question
naire on the Study Book and the
answers were given by several dif
ferent members, after which a live
ly discussion took place which was
interesting and instructive. An
other hymn was sung and this splen
did meeting was brought to a close
in the usual way. A ten-cent tea
was served by the hostess and her
committee. The same afternoon the
W.A. held a short business meeting
with the president, Miss Hannah
Rinn, presiding.
