GRAND BEND
The regular Grand Bend Home
and School Club meeting -was held
on Monday evening, May 26th, with
the president, Mrs. Walper, in the
chair. The meeting opened by
singing one verse of “The Maple
Leaf Forever”. The Lord's Prayer
was repeated in unison and the
minutes of the last meeting were
read and adopted. It was decided
to have the Home and School Club
picnic on Friday afternoon, June 6,
on the. school grounds. It was mov
ed and seconded that we give one
dollar to the Women’s Association
of the church for the >use of their
dishes* at our meetings. The re
mainder of the money in the trea
sury is to be sent to the Queen’s
Victims’ Fund in London.
Mrs. Walper’ read a fitting poem,
.“■Keep on Keeping On”. A group
lot the Junior pupils presented
“Canada East and West”, an Em
pire Day number. The first speaker
of the evening was Mr. Suther
land, of Parkhill, who is Clerk of
Middlesex County. He spoke in a
most pleasing manner on “Taxes
and the Three Avenues Through
Which School Boards Get Their
Money for the Maintenance of the
School.” .Captain Cameron, now of
Parkhill, was introduced and spoke
of his experiences as a sea captain.
He spent many years at sea and is
able to talk very plainly on the war
as he sees it. He has just recent
ly returned from sailing. The meet
ing was closed by singing the Nation
al Anthem. While lunch was being
prepared Mrs. Walper conducted an
amusing contest.

British orders so far this year for 460,000 cases of eggs
(13,980,000 dozen.) should take off the Canadian market a
good big proportion of the eggs that would otherwise he put
into cold storage. The army, navy, air force, and increasing
civilian, demand are also taking great quantities. What will
happen next Fall when yearling flocks drop off in production, and
egg prices as usual climb to their peak for the year?. It is logical’
to expect, with fewer storage eggs to take up the slack, that &gg
prices will be strong and that the period of higher prices will
last longer. .
On the meat end of the business, too, prospects look promising.
A good many people have more money in their pockets than
they had a year ago. There is no great surplus.Of poultry meat
overhanging the market. Other meats are either holding steady
or going up.
Right now, with all signs pointing to a good year for poultry,
it looks like a good sound business proposition to get as many
BRAY chicles as you can handle properly, and raise them right.
We can still supply you with day-old or started chicles for
immediate shipment. Don’t delay—order Bray Chicks today.
