Santa Visits RCAF Children
. Close to 900 dependents of RCAF and civilian
personnel at RCAF Clinton were on hand to greet
Santa Claus when he visited, Wednesday. Special
guests included'75 wards of the Children's Aid So-
ciety. Master Bob Barr, son of Cpl. and Mrs. R.

The Christian education sec-
retary, Mrs. Daisy Holland, re-
ported the UCW helped to
sponsor_ three junior groups
last year: Explorers, under the
leadership of Mrs. Lloyd Hol-
land and Mrs. Don Pullen; Mes-
sengers, under the leadership
of Mrs. William Munich and
Mrs. T. Steep; CGIT.
This last group has been in-
terdenominational the past
year and several girls were
year the leaders being Mrs,
Glen Johnston and Mrs. Astles
from Wesley-Willis. Study
packets and magazines were
provided during the year and
several girls were sent to
church camp last summer.
Mrs. Frank Andrews, flower
convener, was busy all year
sending over 50 roses, 50 cards
and 40 gifts to sick and shut-
ins. Mrs. Clifford Park, litera-
ture convener, mentioned she
would order study packets for
the units.
Miss Ester Jamieson present-
ed the membership committee
report. There is an enrolment
of 162 women in the UCW; a
paid membership of 103; life
memberships totalling 25; two
deaths and three removals( dur-
ing the year.

Kathryn McGregor worked ar-
duously all year to present
spebial programing. Some of
the main features included a
film Strip on the work of the
church in remote areas of
Canada, speeches by the win-
ners of the high school ora-
torincal contest, an illustra-
ted talk by Miss Norma West-
gate of her seven years' work
among the Eskimos, a moving
picture on the work of the
Bible Society, and a steward-
ship program conducted by
Mrs, F. Fingland.
Special visitors day was held
in June, and Thankaffering ser-
vices were held in April and
October, the two speakers be-
ing Rev. Roy Jordison, of Trini-
dad and Rev. M. Carson from
Londesborb. The traditional
St. Patrick's Tea and Bazaar
was held in March, the the
Country Fair in October.
The report of the social com-
mittee, given by Mrs. T. Oliver,
showed a total of 10 events for
which they were responsible.

Two Clinton Rinks
In Curling Finals
Two Cliiiton rinks played off
in the finals of the first draw
of the season at the Seaforth
Curling Club. Over 30 teams
participated of which 40 curl-
ers were from Clinton. The
club holds three club bonspiels
each season.
The rink skipped by Torn
Ellis, with Fred Elliott, vice
skip, George Cutler, second
lead and Steven Brown, lead,
won out, over Doug Miles'
team, of Bill Grigg, vice skip,
Ken Scott second lead and John
Greenslade, lead.

The annual meeting of the
UCW, the Christmas party, and
the December general meeting
were combined last Wednesday
afternoon at Wesley-Willis Un-
ited Church.
About 40 ladies attended the
business meeting and special
Christmas program.
The general meeting heard
routine reports, the treasurer's
report being deferred until the
treasurer, Mrs. Benson Sutter,
recovers from a recent opera-
tion.
Mrs. D. Holland spoke of the
need for a new leader for the
Explorers, a group of young
girls in the church, and reques-
ted additional funds for the
CGIT.
The UCW is to purchase car-
nations to decorate the church
for the two Christmas services.
Mrs. Clifford Park, literature
convener, recommended two
books to the units, both con-
taining , material for worship
services. She also' suggested
"Oh Ye Jigs And Juleps" for,
humorous reading.
Mr. Ji Cox, custodian of
the church, is to receive a let-
ter of appreciation from the
women. Units one and two
have promised to sponsor the
Explorers. The meeting then
adjourned and the annual meet-
ing commenced.

sonably generous. A new allo-
cation has been set for 1964.
She recommended special
thought be given to "aver and
above" gifts, especially West-
minster College and the Fisher
River project in northern Man-
itoba.
The unit ,leaders were then
called upon for their annual
reports, each unit showing an
extremely active year. The in-
dividual accomplishments are
too numerous to mention,

on January 8. 'The new alloca-
tion was accepted for 1964,
Monies voted to be sent to
Westminster College and the
Fisher River project.
A discussion was held re
buying a new stove for the
manse. A new floor is to be
laid in the kitchen, and a do-
nation is to be sent to supply
depot in Toronto.
The business meeting adjour-
ned and the long anticipated
Christmas program commenced.
Carols were sung and Miss
E. Jamieson read the Christmas
Story from the scriptures. Mrs.
McGill gave a special Christmas
prayer, Mrs. Bennett read "The
Inn That Lest Its Chance",
prayer was offered by Miss K.
McGregor.

Mrs. Douglas Andrews, presi-
dent of the UCW presided over,
the meeting and called for
minutes and financial report.
The conveners for 1963 then
presented their reports. Mrs.
Howard Currie, visiting con-
vener reported 282 home cane,
181 hospital calls and many
phone calls made on sick and
shut-ins during the year. Mrs.
J. McGill, corresponding secre-
tary wrote 18 letters.
