The minutes were read by Gail Miller and Mary San- derson gave the financial state- ment. The roll call was an- swered by each tolling what they wanted for Christmas. Four Recruits Join Girl Guides The First Clinton Guide Com- pany held an important event on Monday evening. It was the enrollment of four recruits, Commissioner Corrie presen- ted the pins and both she and Capt. Bush welcomed them. On presenting the pins; the commissioner explained to the new Guides they are now in the Sisterhood of Guiding and must keep to all that is ex- pected of 'a good Guide. The new Guides are Betty Bertrand, Wendy Gates, Janice Herman, Heather Nickson. Quiet piano music was played by Patsy Wilkin while the members and guests were assembling. Chief Explorer Karen East welcomed all to the meeting and 'the scriptures were read by Linda Snowden and Linda Reed, followed by prayer by Donna Chamney. The offer- ing was received by Janet Johnston and Cathy Schneider and dedicated, The speaker of the evening was.Rev. Charles Lewis who spoke on the explorations that the girls had taken. He refer- red 'to the Christmas tree as a symbol of Christian life with its green boughs and in his message told the true meaning of Christmas. Chief Counsellor Mrs. Mau- rice Bean presided for the cere- mony and Mrs. Arthur Grange explained the requirements for each Explorer. The junior group were called forward and received their first red star from MrS. Lloyd Humphreys and Mrs. Donald Young, The girls were: Gail Seers, Marian Armstrong„ Nanty Brown, Louie Johnston, and Sharon Noble, Marie Plunkett and Beverley Harkes were absent. The second red star was ,pre, seated to Linda Reed and Linda Sproul by Mrs. Bean, and the first blue stars were presented by Mrs. Robert Arthur. The ten members were all present and they were: Patsy Wilkin, Karen East, Donna Chamney, Shelley Grange, 'Mary Wilkin, Linda Jefferson, Janet John- ston, Donna Baechler, Linda Snowden and Cathy Schneider. Mrs. Arthur Grange was the pianist for these ceremonies. Mrs, Dan Hallahan, was the chairman and Miss Patricia Damude, Huron Coun- ty home economist, welcomed the ladies and the guest speak- ers. Miss Mary McInnis, food and nutrition specialist from Tor- onto, spoke few words and presented badges to leaderP from Auburn, Cranbrook, St. Helens, Lakelet, Brussels, Bel- grave, Walton, Blyth and Ford- wich. All leaders gave a two- minute report on their classes. The Auburn group presented a skit on desserts with Mrs. Ed Davies, Mrs. Robert Arthur, Mrs. Lloyd' Humphreys, Mrs. Frank , Raithby and Mrs. Ar- thur Grange taking part.
