Parents took the opportunity of open house to
look over workbooks of their children. This is Mr.
and Mrs. Lloyd Weber and•their son Danny, RR 2,
Clinton. Danny, in Grade 1 was reading a page of
his printing to his mother. The words were "I want
a cookie" and the printing was well done. However,
though he could read cookie, he had trouble with
the' word "want". His mother asked, "What do
you say to get a cookie?" and Danny answered
hopefully, "Please?"

Visiting the bulletin board in their new auditorium, this group of bays
had a chuckle out of being asked to pose by the News-Record photographer.
From the left are Ronnie Reder, Eric Schilbe, Brian Atkinson and Mark Hart-
man.
Coffee time during open house at Holmesville Public School was enjoyed
. on Monday night by Jack Tebbutt, Bill Norman, Irvine Tebbutt and John
Semple. The well furnished kitchen which adjoins the new auditorium at the
school, proved a handy place to dispense coffee and donuts.

Another evidence of modern
ohange and the end or an era
as fair as the rural church life
is concerned was vicTidily empha-
sized last Sunday afternoon,
the Sunday next before Ad-
vent (which is the last Sunday
of the Church or Christian
year) with the official decon-
secretion of historic old St.
John's Anglican Church in the
village of Varna.
Built in the latter part of
the 18th century, St. John's
has been a landmark in Verna
for many years. Now, a mere
handful of parishioners remain
on the parish roll end when an
offer to purchase was received
a poll of the parishioners agreed
to dispose of the church.
While the details have not
been finalized; they are being
handled through the Synod of-
fice in London.
Bishop of Georgian Bay, Har-

Suffragan Bishops of the Dio-

vice by candlelight. A consider-
able number of people attended
from St. John's and from the
sister parithes of Trinity, 13ay-
field and St. Jarnest', Middleton,
Bishop Appleyard was assist-
ed by the Rev. Canon P. IC
