ator, W. Stuart Forbes. Chief
Constable Fred IVrinshall, Come.

newly appointed Clinton and
area contact for service clubs
and volunteers who wish to pare
ticipate in the Work at the OM-
ado Hospital. Goderich.
Representatives of several
areas of Huron County met at
the Hospital at Goderich, on,
Wednesday, November 10 for
the purpose of acquainting
those present with the program
presently being conducted by
volunteers, and better co-ordin-
ating the, activities of the many
groups who are contributing to
the pleasures of the patients at
the hospital.
J. W. Coulter, Goderich, act-
ed' as chairman for the meeting
and called on Dr. J. A, Hagan,
Superintendent of the Hospital,
Who spoke to the group and
stressed the need of volunteer
participation in .mental hospit-
als.- This participation would
contribute to the general un-
derstanding of mental illness
and the poSition of the hospi-
tal in the community.
Mrs. G. W. Ferguson, occupa-
tional therapist, outlined a pro-
gram of activities carried out
by volunteers in the wards, li-
brary, canteen, and occupation-.
al therapy room.
The volunteer co-ordinator at
the hospital, Mrs. Raymond
Redmond, described the regu-
lar scheduling of group visits
for each afternoon. For the first
and 'third Tuesdays of each
month; Mrs. Makins of Bay-
field has organized ward activ-
ities. Clinton ladies are respon-
sible for the programme on the
second and fourth Tuesdays.
-Seaforth groups visit on the
first and third Thursdays, as
do groups from Wingham on
the second and fourth Thurs-
days. Individual. volunteers
froni Goderich participate on
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fri-
days. Groups from many parts
of the county are assisting with
entertainment, patients' birth-
day parties,- p!enics, drive-outs,
Concerts, bingos', dances, and
shopping tours.
Areas represented at the
meeting were Seaforth, Luck-
now, St, Helens, Dashwood, Ex-
eter, Mensal:I and Goderich. -
To develop -and expand the
program, more volunteers are
needed. Individuals or groups'
who are interested in' assisting
