Holds Annual -
Thaukoffering
BAYFIELD — 'The annual
Thankoffering meeting of St:
Andrew's Church United Church
Women was held on October 14.
The members 'were joined by
guests from Porter's Hill, On-
tario Street, Clinton, and Go-
shen.
The pretident, Mrs. J. Scotch-
mer conducted the meeting as-
sisted by 'Mrs. Harvey Hohner;
Mrs. Lindsay Smith and Mrs.
Cox who was at the organ.
A Thankoffering meditation
and prayer were offered by
Mrs. Harvey Hohner and Mrs.
John Scotchmer followed by an
organ solo by Mrs. Bruce
Keyes.
Mrs. L. Poth introduced the
guest speaker Mrs. McLellan
who is the registrar at Five
Oaks.
Mrs. McLellan showed pic-
tures of her 'trip to the Holy
Land with many beautiful
scenes showing the comparison
between-the buildings of Bibli-
cal times and the present day
highways.
Mrs. John Lindsay thanked
Mrs. McLellan on 'behalf of the
group and presented her with
a gift. A social hour followed.

home after a flight to Regina.

They visited their niece and

Baker. Mrs. George Reid of
Flaxcombe was also a visitor
at the Baker home, On his re-
turn Mr. Stinson spent a few
days in London.

BAYFIELD — The ladies of
the Trinity Guild held their
October meeting at the home
of Mrs. William Parker with
nine members present,
President Mrs. F. P. Arkell
opened the meeting. In the ab-
sence of the secretary, Mrs.
L. Scotchmer, Mrs. W. Parker
read the minutes of the pre-
vious meeting.
New business included a de-
cision to serve tea in the Parish
Hall after the Confirmation
Service, on November • 7, at
which Bishop Appleyard • will
officiate.
Plans for •the bridge and
euchre party to be held this
coming Friday, October 22, in
the Parish Hall, were finalized.

BAYFIELD — The annual
general meeting 'of Huron Dis-
trict Council, Boy Scouts of
Canada, was held in the Angli-
can Parish Hall, Bayfield, on
October 18.
President Duff Thompson
was away on a business trip
and vice-president Frank Ros-
ser, Denfield, opened the meet-
ing.
District Commissioner Jack
Gallant pointed out at the read-
ing of the minutes that acqui-
sition of a District Camp site
could not be attempted with
the meagre funds available and
hoped that the need would still
be remembered.
Introductions followed and
disclosed the presence of Field
Executive Joe Hibbert, Hanov-
er; District Chaplain, Rev. R.
W. VVenham; Assistant District
Commissioner Glen Northeatt;
and representatives from Ailsa
Craig, Auburn, Bayfield, Bruce-
field, RCAF Centralia, RCAF
Clinton, Dashwood, Exeter, 2nd
Goderich; 4th Goderich and
Grand Bend groups.

were distributed followed by

Anniversary -service at Grace
Church on Sunday, October 17
was well attended. "Rev. W. J.
Moines was speaker . for the
occasion and. his topic was
"What Is Going On Here?" -
He emphasized the need for
effort to keep the small chur-
ches' open. He said, "Our fore-
fathers built the church, not
for their entertainment 'but to
provide the blessings of the
Christian faith for themselves
and for their children".
He stressed' how much hard-
er .it would be for people to
keep their faith if there were
no churches ar Sunday Schools.
The choir was under the di-
rection of Mrs. William Cox.
The church was decorated
with autumn flowers for • the
occasion.

tion 'that District Council de-
mand a quota of 50 cents per
boy from 'the group committee
by whom he is registered. All
groups voted in favour.
Thus, registration costs for
1965-66 will total $3 per boy in-
cluding National, Provincial,
District and "Canadian Boy"

staff have installed the officers
of Morningstar Rebekah Lodge,
Brussels, Huronic Lodge, Clin-
ton, Goderich Lodge and Pride
of Hunon Lodge, Exeter.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hoy, and
Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Mousseau
enjoyed a trip over the Thanks-
giving holiday through the An-
diroeks Mountains to Lake Pla-
cid. They returned by way of
Montreal and while there, Mr.
and Mrs. Hay were guests of
Rev. and Mrs. J. P. Ferguson.

with a brather of Mrs. Mous-
seau's.

ed on the new president to ad-
dress the 'assembly after which
District Chaplain Rev. R. W.
Wenham, Clinton, closed the
meeting with a brief prayer.
