The next two clays will be
spent in a tour of inspection
of Station facilities, and detail-
ed briefings on the three resi-
dent schools.
Born in Toronto in 1915, Air
Commodore Burgess was edu-
cated at tile University of To-
ronto School of Engineering.
From 193'5 to the outbreak of
the Second World War, he
served as• a member of the
RCAF Auxiliary, and received
his pilot wings late in 1.937.
During the 'early war years,
Air ,Commodore Burgess sery-,
ed on' instructional duties at
flying training schools in Can-
ada, until 1943 when he was
transferred overseas. While in
A Cub-Scout Apple Day has
been planned for Saturday, Oc-
tober 16, It will include a
door-to-door canvass between
9 am, and 1 p.m.
There will be Scouts and
Cubs on street corners through-
out the morning and most ;of
the afternoon.

Selling Candy
To Aid Refugees
Students fircen. Central Hu-
ron Secondary School; are go-
ing into the candy bar business.
Beginning today, the young-
sters from the school wall be
selling large pure ch000late
candy bars in an effort to raise
funds for a new and' 'enter-
prizing project—spons'oring of
refugee children, as many as
possible.
Some money will also be used.
for the publication of the school
year book.
It has been estimated that
from $1,800 to $1,900 can be
realized by the students from
all over the' county who attend
CHSS.
The 'new scheme will replace
the magazine subscription carn-
paign undertaken in previous
years,
