were given a period of instruc-
tion by Sgt. Ebel on the Vari-
pus materials .neeicied to start
fires and. ways of preventing
fires.
TWo training films were then
shown Which ,emphasized the
correct procedures to be car,
vied out after discovery of a
fire. The boys then viewed the
fire .track and Mr. Burke eon,
eluded the evening by demon-
strating how easy it is to allow
fires to begin through careless,
nest, •
On November ,6, Sgt. Ebel.
and Mr. Burke will give fur-
ther instruction to the Clinton
Scouts on the use of various
fire extinguishers and at that
time the boys will actually use
the, extinguishers to put out
small practice fires,
A further evening is planned
for more' instrUction and finally
an exam will be set, which it is
anticipated will qualify many
of the Clinton Troop for a
fireman's badge, which is a re-
quirement to become a Queen
Scout.
The October meeting . of St.
Joseph"A Catholic Women's
League was held Monday in
the Parish Hall when plans
were discussed for the bazaar
to be. !held October 30.
Mrs. C, Trott and Mrs. T.

visiting com mittee for this
month.
The group also received the
thanks of, the school board, the
principal and the school chil-
dren of St. Joseph's Separate

Etize 'took a group of 30 child-
e'en' from the Kindergarten
Class of the Air Marshall Cam-
Tkell School, to the Fire Hall
where they were shown the
fire, truck and equipment used
by the firemen.
Awing their visit the child-
ren watched a simulated fire
alarm call, following which the
!fire crew quickly put on their
eqnipment and jumped into the
truck which was, driven out of
the fire hall.
The children were introduced
to a real live "Sparky" which
is the symbol for Fire Preven-
tion activities which are taking
place this week, Loaned by Mr.
and Mrs. Doig from Seaforth
"Sparky" a pure bred Dalmat-
ian. is this week staying and at-
tracting a lot of attention at
the RCAF Clinton Fire Hall.
On the afternoon of October
5th, children in the afternoon
Kindergarten Class visited the
Fire Hall.

recent Station Parade. Before
reporting to , RCAF Clinton,
Cpl. Wismer served Overseas
with No. 1 Air Division Head-
quarters.

Clinton RCAF Chief
Gives Fire Lecture
In Wallaceburg
The Fire Chief of RCAF Sta-
tion Clinton Fire Department,
Sergeant Gard Ebel recently
travelled to Wallaceburg where
he showed a film 'and talked to
members of the Kent County
Fire Chiefs and Officers Associ-
ation.
The meeting was attended
by about fifty people and Sgt.
Ebel's talk included informa-
tion on the Duties, of Fire
Fighters in the -RCAF, the
training given at Camp Bor-
den and procedures used in
Crash Rescue. He also showed
a training !film entitled "Three
Minutes to Live" following
which there was a queStion and
answer period. Sgt Ebel is
scheduled to give talks to the
Air Cadet Sqdn in Stratford
and the Kinsman Club in Clin-
ton later this month.
