This photo, taken at corner of Ontario and William Streets, where another gang
of Bot Construction are breaking up 'the old , pavement, preparing for new road
bed on Ontario Street (Highway 8).
Storm sewers have been laid on Victoria Street (Hiihway 4) from the payfield
River, bridge at south entrance to Clinton, up to Kirk and Maria Streets. Bot
Construction have contract of laying storm sewers all along Victoria Street to
intersection of Highways 4 and 8; and all along Huron and Ontario Streets.

Storm Sewer Put Under CNR Tracks
Extra CNR section. crews were in Clinton, last weekend to help put the
new Victoria Street, storm sewer under the CNR, tracks on that street. The •
work, was completed between the time the last, train left Clinton ,Saturday af-
ternoon and the first train arrived from the east Monday' at noon.

The recently trained EMO
auxiliary Policemen in Clinton
are filling iho at nights while
regular force pollee are on holi-
days. They are paid $1.35 per

Mr. Adam J. McMurray, Ont-
ario Street, a retired blockman
for the Irtternational, Harvester
Company, is the proud owner
er'a note for $34 Which he wit-
nessed, in 1917.
While at the International
Harvester office. in I3amliitoil
recently, an official in the ac-
counting department, gave the
souvenir to Mr. McMurray,
The note on well
bond paper , was front a Mr.
John McConnell, of Concession
11, God,erich, Township, and was
•part payment for 'a six-foot IH
mower. It was, dated August
17, 1917, and sighed by Mr. Mc-
Connell with an "X" and wit-
nessecl by Mr. McMurray.
The Clinton III agent art the
time was A. C. "Cliff' LeVey,
now retired' at 44- St. Patrick
Street, Goderich„
Mr, McMurray was a block=
man for the III company from
191.4 to 1925,in Clinton; at Har-
Aston; from 1920 1.0'1939; and
spent his last three years with
the company back at Clinton,'
until he retired in 1942.
The 1917 note is one of many
deals which Mr. McMurray was
involved in for the implement
company. He has •no idea how
'the note got back to the III
office, as it Was paid by Mr.
lVfcConn.ell. A: bank payment
_stamp is quite 'clear on the
note.
