Dr. Norma Hopleineen the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs, N. E.
Cook, Hensall, and her husband,
Dr. .Mervyn Hopkinson, live at
Lion's Head, Ontario, and are
the only doctors north of Wier-
ton in the Bruce Peninsula.. For
14 years, they have made their
tells in rough terrain of the 55-
m6le long strip by car, horse, on
foot or by a plane' shard with
a Wanton elector.
Now the Hopkineons have a
Beagle 'aircraft of -their very
own on order!
"When they call a doctor up
here, they need one in a hurry,"
Dr. Mervyn said. His brother,
Keith Hopkinson, operator of
Sky Harbour Airport, Goideriele
who was killed in a crash a
year ago last March, had often
urged him to fly, but Dr. Men'
vyn Hopleineon 'didn't get 'hi
private pilot's -licence until a-
bout one year ago.
Inspired , by her husband's
achievement,. Dr. Norma de-

Between a 'full-time medical
practice and lopleing after three
children, Joanne, 14, Bruce; 12,
and Mary Beth, 8, Norma has

Summertime means danger
time for children,
With 1,300,000 elementary
sehool' children on summer va-
cation throughout the province,

Menieter of Transport, urged all
parents end all drivers to be
alert to greater' hazards near
playgrounds, on residential
streets and in vacation areas.
"Traffic accidente are the big-
gest single killer of children
from one to 14 yews' of age,"
Mr. Haskett 'said. "And the
greatest danger 'it in the sum-
mer months."
An average of 17 children
were killed and 668 injured' in
'beetle accidents during other
months' of 1964, But during July
and August, the 'average mon-
thly - rose to 32 children
killed and 942 injured
"A large number of child ac-
cident victims; are passengers
in their parents' cars," Mr. Has
kett 'said. "This is an added
reason for driving 'safely."
He suggested that parents
remind their' ;children frequently
of the six safety rules they
learn in whoa'. from the "Elmer-
the Safety Elephant" 'progrem.

cross a. street;
2. Keep out from between -park-
ed ears;
3.. Ride 'your bike safely, and
obey ,all signs and signals;
