AUBURN — Members of
Unit Two of the United Church
Women of Knox United Church
were in charge of the monthly
meeting held in the Sunday
School room of the church.. Mrs.
Norman McDowell opened the
meeting and Mrs. Oliver An-
derson gave the meditation on
the Bible passage.
Mrs. McDowell called on Mrs.
Emmersan Rodgers and some of
her festival winners for vocal
numbers, Those who sang were
Shelley Grange, Glen Wight-
man, Betty . Moss, Jennifer
Grange, Naren East, Roiey Lub-
bers and Joyce Leath.erland,
The theme of the meeting
was on Christian Citizenship and
Social 'Action and Mrs. Arthur
Grange toldabout the life of the
Indian in Northern Canada. She
„introduced Rev. and Mrs. U.
Stewart, supply minister of the
,Auburn charge, who allowed
pictures and talked abput their
work with 'the Indians a few
years ago. Mrs. Gordon Mc-•
Clinchey sang a' solo.
'The president, Mrs. Bert
Craig, took charge for the bus
iness period.
The various committees re-
ported on their activities and
invitations were received and
accepted to attend the Landes-
bore UCW on May 30 at 8 p.m.,
Constance UCW on June 2 at 2
p.m, and Westfield UCW on
June 16 at 8 p.m. The general
meeting in Jun.c will be held on
June 17.

Misses Beth and Linda Thom-
peon entertained at a surprise
dinner party Saturday evening
at the Elm leaven. Motor Hotel,
Clinton, in honour of their par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Thompson; on the event of
their 25th wedding anniversary.
Guests were present from
Moorefield, Winthrop, Blyth and
Londesboro. Mr. and Mrs.
Thompson were the recipients
of many lovely gilts and cards.
The community extends heart-
iest congratulations and wish'
for them many happy and pros-
perous years to come. •
The UCW held their thank-
offering meeting on Sunday
evening. Guests wore present
from Clinton, Blyth, Auburn,
Walton, Constance and Barns.
The guest speaker, Rev, Ste-
phen leathers of Toronto, gave
a very interesting address on
Trinidad, having spent some
time recently in Trinidad. His
talk of the people and their
customs was doubly interesting
as the Unite have had Trinidad
its One of their study books this
Year. Barbara and Bennie Snell
contributed, tWe lovely duets
which Were much appreciated.

ter Thelma and Alister Broad-
foot; her son Ken, Mrs. Scott

Making Fire 'Brownie Style"
Bayfieid Brownies recently took a lesson in starting fires but there is no
cause for alarm. They were well supervised by Brownie leaders Mrs. George
Wonch .and Mrs. Clarence Neilans, both of Clinton. The girls were preparing
for their firelighting test. They got some rip-roaring fires going too, for file

of the United Church of Can-

neighbours and friends in the
Village. The evening was spent
playing progressive euchre with
