With all the excitement in Bayfield these past fent/ weeks, I decided to drive: over that, way last Sunday to 'see: for myself what maps Bayfaelders so loyal to, their lakeslhore villlage, I must have driven through the place nearly a hundred times before, but during my re- cent visit, I seemed to see it through rdifferent eyes. There isn't much doubt in nay mind. than Baylield as pe9rbaps the lov l.ies!t spot in all of Ontario, You don't have to take long, exp"ive tours to, Europe to see magnificent scenery, for a summary of everything the uni- verse has to offer seems to, be contained .on the hillside over- looking -the river in. Bayfield. Froin the vantage point on the wade sweep of Highway 21, one 'gets the: feeling that he has the world .at has feet -and .that breathtaking beauty is has king- dom. And all the houses seem to be nestled . . . not merely situated. They seem to belong there, almost as thou'g'h they were placed by a mightier force than that conjured up by Man, Every tree, flower and blade of 'grass appears to have ,a spec- lall.,purp'ose known to Bayfield alone. Yes, I can understand the statement i heard recently from a Bayfdeld woman, "it's a funny ,thing," she said. "Once people come to Bayfield, they never want to leave," And while I'm tallciaag about lovely views, I should mention the ground's at RCAF Station Clinton. Whoever its responsible for the pla:nniilg and m+arimt'en once of 'the acres of lawn at the station, should have a merit badge pixmed on his shirt. Right now there are tulips and i lares by the score, But what really -impresses me daay after day as I drive past th'e gates, are the dozens and dozens of :trees lining the streets and bordered by a mat of the thick- est, greenest grass in _ males. "Hail to the chief," I cry for the weloome relaxation, of the usual starched military appear- ance of anrned 'forces camps. Huron County Farming- Report ",Growyth is good an all crops," says D. H. Miles, Agricultural Representative for Huron Coun- ty. "The planting of whine beans has srtax ted, The gentle warm rain should be ;helpful to all crops. Recently, a story in the News -Record told of a Clinton area -lady who found a tulip with three blooms on one stem in her flower garden, Not only did Mrs. Nelson Heard,.
