In their first outing Clinton Kinsmen Mites, under the guid- ance of Joe Atkinson were beat- en hi: a close game with God- erich by 'a score of 3-2. Danny Colquhoun and Stirling scored for Clinton. From that point on. the town kids' never looked hack and went on to beat the Adastrai Park team 6-4 and then Sea- forth by a score of 5-0. The Adastral Peek team first played Detroit and ended up the short end of a, .6-1 verdict with their goal being scored by Rob- ert McFarlane. In the 6-4 de- feat by Clinton, Ken Schlegel scored two goals, with Bob Ton, ogali and Lee Pratt getting one each. Stirling scored ,all Clinton town goals. At a banquet at the station, Wing Commander Vienicombe presented his trophy to the De- troit Club and Corporal. Larry Howland• banded the Corporals' Club trophy to Danny Colqu- houn Jr. Robert Stirling was picked as the top player of the day and was. presented with a stick autographed by Gordie Howe. Darrell Ulrich of Forest was runner-up for this' award and Bill O'Shea from Seaforth was elected the best goalie. The tournament was made possible and arranged by the Married Quarters Council and the Corporals' Club. Worthy of praise for the organization were Sgt. R. G. IVleFlarlane, Cpl. H. H. Stevens, Cpl. J. F. pailre and Sgt. R. Schlegal. Only two- penalties. were handed out in the opening period, one to each team. Scoring opened in the middle frame at 1:32 when Laurie Col- quhoun dented the twines be- hind the Listowel goalie unas- sisted and at 4:03, Ken Daer scored from John Cooper and Den Yeo. Ten minutes of score-: less hockey went by before Bob Livermore found the mark for Clinton; -Leaping up once 'again to assist on the goal were .Coo- per and Yeo. Thirty-four sec- onds later, Laurie Colquhoun closed second period scoring un- assisted to put the hometown team out in front 6-0. Midway in the final stanza, Lietowel. took advantage of- a face-off-interference penalty to Barry Glazier and spoiled Lone Deer's shutout, but at 13:35„ Ron Deer, assisted by Randy Glew and. Don Freeman, gained some revenge when he scored while Listowel was playing with two men in the sin-bin.
