God Food Value
Raw apples, eaten skin and
all, contain the greatest food
value, but there is still plenty
of nutritive value in . apple
sauce, apple pies, apple, pudding
and baked apples. .Almost all
Ontario apple juice is fortified
with vitamin C.
Apples eaten raw help to
clean teeth and gums by re-
moving' film left by sticky
foods. The mouth benefits from
both the fibre and the pectin
in apples, and from an increas-
ed flow .of saliva.•
Apples, being available all
year-round, offer variety in
desserts and salads any time,
Applescarry essential vitamins
A, B, and C do quantities that
vary 'according to the degree of
ripeness. Necessary minerals
are also present.
Eaten in generous quantities,
especially raw, apples make an
important contribution to the
diet, Apples contain some min-
erals and vitamins, the vitamin
content varying with the var-
iety or apples, storage condi-
tions, and the way the fruit
is served.
Fruit sugars in apples help
to give the' body a lift, by
providing quick energy. They
are easily assimilated by the
system. • Apples also pro'v4:de
stimulating acids, juices and
bulk which aid in good diges-
tion and intestinal activity.
