Wenham offered prayers and the school band played God Save the Queen, At Library Pa k In Town Town of Clinton citizens turned out in goodly numbers on Monday to watch the &zing- ing of the flags in Library Park. It is estimated there was over 300 onlookers, with 50 men in the parade representing service clubs and lodges, and over 300 public sehood children. RCAF Station Clinton band led the parade of official rep- resentatives of town organize- time. The parade was in charge of George Campbell,. Sergeant- at-Arms of 'Clinton Legion. Mayor Don Symons expressed his pleasure at being in his present position to: officiate at • the history-making event. He especially reminded the children of the historic event they were watching, and 'he read the proclamation from The Queen -authorizing Canada's new Beg: Clinton's two reeves and Queen's Scout Harry Cummings were the color party. Deputy Reeve George Wench accepted the retiring ensign and Reeve Duff Thompson unfurled the new maple leaf flag and assisted Scout Cummings in raising it. Rev. R. U. MacLean offered a prayer and an RCAF band bugler sounded reveille. Rev. Father S. McGuire then offered another prayer. "0 Canada" was played on a record player, and the air force band 'played God Save the Queen. Mayor Symons announced to the assembled school children that the rest of the day was, declared a holiday. BELLCHAMBER BAYFIELD — The village council met on Monday even- ing. After the minutes of the previous meeting had been ad- opted, Reeve Clift reported on the flag-raising ceremony held earlier in the day and then out- lined the agenda for the Meet- ing. Maps of the village showing precise locations were exhibit- ed so that responsibility for maintenance of boundary roads would be clearly understood by council and the road superin- tendent. A motion was carried that letter of thanks be' sent to H. H. Ormond for his study of the boundaries and the production of the maps. The Reeve reported a visit by Elston Cardiff, MP, on Clubs has grown to a total of over 400 regional clubs and a membership of well over 12,000 members.
