their series with Walkerton and •captured the
WQAA midget '13" championship last Monday even-
ing in Walkerton, They Squeezed by their hosts
with a 3-2 win following a 5-4 win in Clinton last.

Six Buildings Leave 'RCAF Base
This 50-foot by 21-foot building was one of six declared surplus at RCAF
,Base Clinton, and, last Friday it was towed from the station by a private
contractor, hired by Henry Stoyker, of RR 4 Clinton, who bought the build-
ing. The load when hitched to the truck was 70 feet long and 21 feet wide.

nannent at Rockway Golf
Course, Kitchener on Sunday,
September 20.

A Goderich team placed sec-
ond with 329 and Clinton and
Goderich teams tied for third
place with 342.
Eleven teams were entered
from Clinton, Goderich, Hens-
all, and Wingham.
The tournament was under
the sponsorship of the Clinton
Legion Branch.

played in the 18-hole tourney,

Good For
Rummage Sale
Persons who purchased tick-
ets on a draw for 14 prizes at
Clinton Lions Club summer
mardi gras, which has been
cancelled, are reminded that
their tickets are still good.
The mardi gras (or summer
carnival) was scheduled for
Thursday, August 13, but wet
weather forced a postponment
to August 20. Then the wea-
ther turned too cold for an out-
door carnival and the Lions
cancelled the affair for this
year.
Draw tickets will he honored
at a. huge rummage sale early
in September at the Lions
Arena.
Watch for date of the rum-
mage sale in next week's is-
sue, and also date and times,
of pick-tip of articles for the
sale.
President Leslie Ball is call-
ing an executive meeting soon
to set the date of sale, and ar-
range activities for the coming
year.

On Wednesday, August 19„
the Clinton Kinsmen Peewee's
won their second game of a
two-out-of-three WOAA. semi-
final series with. Exeter, 9,6.
The local team started wealc,, •
ly by allowing Exeter, to pile
up four early nuns. However,
with Dave Cooper relieving on
the mound in the third inning
and with some strong hitting
and almost perfect fielding, the
team took the lead by the
sixth inning.
Greg 'Burns again led the
batting with 'two, hits in four
times at bat,
Play Walkerton
On Monday, August 24, the
Peewees started off their fin-
als 'with a bang as they took
a decisive win over Walkerton,
18-5 in the first game of their
series,.
The local team got three
runs in the first inning and
never . looked back. They put
'the' game on ice in the sixth
inning when eight Clinton play-
ers crossed the plate. With the
accurate pitching of Dave
Cooper and some strong bait-
ing by Greg Burns, John Mc-
Pherson, and Jim Keller, Wal-
kerton had little chance.
Last night the Peewees won
the WOAA championship when
.they trounced Walkerton 18-7,
participated in examinations
held at Guelph.

Auburn took a two-run lead
in the fourth inning when Sam
Beane scored after a- wild
throw to first on a hit by Ken
Daer. Daer then stretched the
lead to 2-0 on a sacrifice by
Seers.
Holmesville narrowed the lead
to 2-1 in the fifth as Don Yeo
hit a single and mired when
Walter Bell followed up with a
double.

A ninth inning home run by Grant Sowerby
with two men on base gave Holmesyille a 5-2 win
over Auburn to tie the Central Huron Softball
League finals at one game each.

tied the series at one game

of the branch's fall golf tour-
nament.
The tourney for Legionaires
and guests will be held at Oak-
wood Inn Golf Course, Grand
Bend, on Sunday, September
27.
Legion members will be com-
peting for the branch golf
trophy, A $25.00 budget was
allotted at the Legion meeting
Monday to cover prizes and
lunch.
The instructor for the exam-
inations was Mary Jean Wen-
ham, and - the examiner was
Bud Hayter.
