Suffer Injuries
In Hwy. 8 Crash
Three London persons were
injured Sunday when the small
1964-model car in which they
were riding blew a front tire
and overturned on Highway 8,
about two miles south of God-
erich.
• William Hamilton, 31, of 73
Edward Street, London, suffer-
ed a broken ankle ',and a back
injury; his 28-year-old wife
suffered a broken nose and. cuts
and bruises, and nine-yegr,old
James McKenzie, suffered knee
and face abrasions, and 'shock,
Ontario Pnovincial Police said
the Hamilton car apparently
was within the speed limit
when the accident happened.
The front right tire blew out,
and Mr. Hamilton lost control
of 'the car which left the road
and overturned. ,

and so the brakes were good,

Mrs. Nott, a keen bridge en-

They said he was with Rob-

mer home of Mr. and Mrs.

Robert Pincombe told police
his friend', Jim,' suddenly dis-f
appeared beneath 'the surface
of the water, and did not came
to the surface again.
He' did not call out, or indi-
cate in any way he was 'having
difficulty.
Body Recovered
Volunteers started dragging
operations and police were cal-
led to the scene to stand by
with first aid equipment.
The body was recovered at
11:58 p.m.
The dead boy was a Grade
13 student at Central Colleg-
iate Institute, London. He was
hem in St. Thomas and came
to London with his family when
he was two years old.
He was a member of Emp-
ress United Church, London,
Funeral Tuesday
Surviving besides, his father
are his g,randinother, Mrs. Leta
Cameron, of St. Thomas; an
aunt, Mrs. jack (Ellena) Cant,
eron, of Windsor; and three
uncles, Donald and Kenneth
Cameron, of St. Thomas, and
Clifford Cameron, of London.
The funeral was Tuesday at
1:30 p.m. from the George E.
George Kenneth McDonald,
17, of RCAF Station Clinton,
escaped serious injury Friday
night whe he ran into the side
of a car on Huron Street, near
the intersection of Highways
4 and 8.
The youth told police he did
not notlice. the traffic light had
changed to red and was run-
ning across the street when he
struck the' side of a car driven
by Gordon Baxter, 24, of 203
Pahnerston Street, Goderich.
Police said the Baxter car
had almost stopped when Mc-
Donald ran into the left front
fender, about one foot past the
front bumper.
The youth bounced over the
hood, and landed on his back
in the street.
Crowd Gathers
He was taken to Clinton
Public Hospital where x-rays
revealed no broken bones, but
he was treated for bruises,
scrapes, shock, and abrasions,
to his left leg and ankle, and
right knee..
Scores of curious passersby
'crowded around the injured boy
until police arrived and cleared
the Way for the ambulance.
The 'accident was investigated
by Coast. Clarence Perdue and
Chief, Russell Thompson.

ed the driver of the ear with

Candy Scramble At Chapel Picnic
About 250 parents and children of the RCAF
Clinton Protestant Chapel held a picnic Saturday
at Seaforth Lions Club Park. Races were held for
children of all ages — including adults. In this

Street, Clinton, marked their 60th wedding anni-
versary Saturday with a reception for friends and
relatives in the Board Rooms of Clinton Public
Hospital.
Mr. Nett, a former Clinton smith Township, is the son of
Mayor, also celebrated his 86th the Pate Mr. and Mrs. George
birthday that day, Nott His wife., the •former Alice
Latirena Dale, is the daughter
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wil-
liam. Dale also of Tuckeramith
Township.
Following their marriage. at
the bride's home, Mr. and Mrs.
Nat farmed in Tuckersmith
Township for 20 years, and
then moved to another farm
between Clinton and Seafonth

Hydro service to Brussels and
Walton was knocked out for
about one 'hour, according to
Ontario Hydra officials, ' and
power was off in Clinton and
Blyth for about half an hour
While Hydro repairmen tried
to find. where the .clisruptiOn h
been caused. , •
The trouble was traced to
two 'transformers 'between Sea-
forth and Brussels which had
been'. shattered by lightning.
Repairs were effected within an
hour and service was restored.
Heavy Rain
Heavy rain fell in Clinton
area for about one,. half hour,
but no major washouts or other
damage attributable to the rain
was reported.
High winds raked London and
area, and at Centralia the roof
was blown from a hangar and
a recreation
Near Mitchell, a barn owned
by Alvin Harmer was destroyed
by fire after it was struck by
a bolt of lightning. -
No •Crop Damage
Mr. Harmer had rebuilt his
barn in 1958 at a cost of $20,000
replacing one which burned that
year. The barn. has been hit
three times by- lightning since
1958, once • killing some live-
stock in the building; the sec-
ond time blurting out the wiring
system, and yesterday starting
a fire' which razed -the struc-
ture.
In the Clinton area, only a
few small branches were blown
from, trees; but within a rad-
ius of about 25 Miles, damage
was more extensive, and doz-
ens of tree's were toppled in
Perth County.
