Walter "Red" Scott, left, was high triple winner; Barry Elliott, centre,
high single, and Dave Reid,' right, high average, were top individual winners
in the garage and service station bowling league this past season.

Mrs. Harry Fowler, 74, of
Clinton, died Sunday at her
home.
She was the former Emma
Johnstone, and was born in
Ashfield Township.
Surviving are her husband;

Leamington; Mrs. Kenneth

Community Club was held at
the home of Mrs, Ed ,C, Olen, A,

the Hospital Aid Fund and $5
to The Cancer Society.
The program was made up
of readings and contests by Mrs.
Ann Broad-foot, Mrs, Fred Gib-
son, Mrs, George Cantelon, Mrs.
Bob Glen and Mrs. Ed Glen,

held on Wednesday, June 3 at
the home of Mrs, Fred. Gibson.

An open house -followed by,
tea was held Wednesday, May
20, at Clinton Public Hospital
by Women's Auxiliary to
.the hospital. Social convener
was Mrs. Beecher Menzies.
Guests were received by Mrs.
Ken Wood, auxiliary president;
Mrs. W. R. PI-limey, hospital
superintendent; and. Mrs. Men-
zies.
The tea-table, covered with
a white Madeira cloth, was
centred With a large silver bowl
of flowers in the hospital colors,
yellow and blue, flanked by
blue tapers.
Pouring tea were Mrs, H. C.
Lawson, Mrs. Brock Olde, Mrs.
Alex Haddy and Miss Kay El-
liott, assistant superintendent.
Serving in the tea-room were.
Mrs. Grant Mills, Mrs. Robert
Homuth., Mrs. R. U. MacLean,
Mrs. D. J. - Cochran% 'Mrs.
James Cooper, Mrs. Tom Steep,
and Mrs. C. A. Trott.

Rt. Rev. George N. Luxton,
Bishop of Huron, was guest
speaker at the spring meeting
of Huron Deanery in St. Steph-
en's Anglican Church, Gorrie.
Speaking . on the Anglican
World Congress, he said a
-church that lives to itself dies
to itself., He appealed to the
more than 70 persons attending,
'to support the Church, all over
the world, besides keeping an
equal interest in diocesan par-
ish mission work.

chaired the meeting. Minutes
from. April and March meetings

read.
Mrs. K.' Lovell sang a solo.
She was accompanied on the
piano by Mrs. L. Lovell. Mrs.
Jones took the topic on
India, and used -a tape recording
on the subject, with a question
and answer period afterwards.

agreed that a strawberry sup-
per be held on June 17 in the

AUBURN—Funeral services
were held on Monday after-
wog in Knox Presbyterian
Church, for Alvin Edgar Leath-
erland who passed away on
Saturday, May 23 in Clinton
Public Hospital after a lengthy
Illness.
He was born near Seaforth
and was 62 years of age•. He
was the son, of 'the late Mr.
Edgar Leatherland and Wilhel-
mina. Bubolz. After the .death
of his father, •the family moved
to tlie Auburn community. He
was employed by the County
road commission for several
years and 'then worked at the
Lawson sawmill, For many
years he has been employed by
the County Road commission
until last year when. illness

meeting.
A poem entitled "Mother's
Day" was read by Mrs. Jack
Tebbutt. Roll call was respond-
ed to by 13 members and one
visitor was present.
A poem "My Spare Lady"
was read by Mrs. Jack Tebbutt
and 'the meeting was closed
with the Mizpah benediation.
Work was done on a quilt.
Lunch was served - by the hos-
tess, assisted by Mrs. Ray Bird
and Mrs. Jack Tebbutt.
The. June -meeting will be at
the home of Mrs. Fred Lobb,
with the roll call being answer-
ed by "a recipe using straw-
berries".

"The Lord is my shepherd"
and. Miss Margaret Haines was
the organiSt. Burial took place
'in Ball's cemetery with pall-
bearers being Major Youngblut,
Arthur Youngblut, Gordon Mil-
ler, Gordon Plunkett, Frank
Riley and Bert Deer.--
