To assure storm-proof dependability, mast telephone cables are filled with pressurized dry air, if a cable springs a leak, the force of the escaping dry air holds out moisture and keeps phones working. An alarm automatically tells repairmen the location of the break, and the leak is usually repaired before trouble develops. So go ahead and Use your phone When the sky opens up and the rain comes down!
