this weekend.
The proceedingi get under-
way at mid-afternoon on Fri-

After the boys have been
billeted at RCAF ,Clinton for

MINOR HOCKEY DAY IN CLINTON — and
MINOR HOCKEY WEEK IN CANADA
WHEREAS, the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association has set aside the
week commencing January 25 as a period to focus, public attention
on MINOR HOCKEY, and
WHEREAS the game of hockey is recognized as CANADA'S NATIONAL
GAME, which teaches our youth to develop a competitive spirit, co-
operation with others, body-building, and a respect for authority,
and
WHEREAS Minor, Hockey is the foundation from which 'accomplished
hockey stars develop, and
WHEREAS, Clinton has long been noted for its active minor ,hockey
participation,
NOW THEREFORE, I, as Mayor of the Town of Clinton, do hereby
declare
SATURDAY JANUARY 25.
as
MINOR HOCKEY DAY IN CLINTON,
at which two minor hockey teams from the City of DearbOrn, Mich,,
compete with Clinton minor teams, and are our guests for the
weekend.
I request that all parents and others support this observance by

Plenty of Hockey
Hockey action commences at
the local 'arena at 8:30 p.m, on
the same night when two local
wee wee teams will give the
fans plenty of exciting and
undoubtedly humorous — mom-
ents in a half-hour exhibition.
They will be followed on the
ice by Clinton Legion's power-
ful 'juveniles, last year's OHA
finalists, The local six will
tackle a power-packed squad of
contemporaries from London,
Adams will drop the puck
for the official face-off and
Riggin will referee, along with
Ken Leinweber, Stratford.
Hockey resumes at 9:00 a.rn,
on Saturday, when the annual
Clinton 'Kinsmen squirt tour-
nament will be held between
teams 'from Eketer, Goderich,
Seaforth and Clinton.

Ready For Action On Weekend
Clinton Legion juveniles, WOAA champions and OHA finalists, will get
one of their better workouts of the season this Friday, when they tackle the
powerful Duchess of Kent juvenile all-stars from London. The game will be
part of the Clinton Minor Hockey Day activities. Coach Doug Andrews, right,
contends his squad is as good as last year, and they have the added benefit of

After a slow start, the Clin-
ton Lions midgets have start-
ed to find the going a little
smoother, posting two wins in
three WOAA games last week.
In the first one, they whipped
Goderich by a 4.2 count, to re-
verse a heart-breaking 1-0 loss
suffered earlier.
Archie Pickett and Goderich's
J. Farrish each scored in the
first period to leave the teams
tied, and the score remained at
that until the final stanza,
when ' 'Clinton scored three
goals, to the one potted by
Goderich.
Bill MacKay picked up two
of the markers, while Butch
Fleet accounted for the other.
K. Farrish was the Goderich
sniper.
Last Monday, the locals tra-
velled to Zurich and returned
With a convincing 8-2 triumph,
picking up most of, their tallies
in the final period.
Rill MacKay potted two 'to
pace •the 'attack, while Don
Scrimgeour, Archie Pickett,
Butch Fleet, John Steep, Paul
McKenzie and Ashley Bevan
picked up a single each,
Clinton picked up only four
of the 10 penalties called.
One Loss
The lone loss was at the
hands of the Mitchell midgets,
Who came through with a 4-8
win at the Cinton arena.
After spotting Clinton a 3-0
lead in the first period, the
whiners came back to knot the
count in the second and seared
the tie breaker in the final,
'McLeod, Pritchard, Hughes
and Powell: scored for the win-
ners.
Brill MacKay again picked up
two goals for Clinton, While
Fleet accounted for the third.
Alien HoWeepiayed his Usual
fine games between the pipes
for the Clinton. crew in all
three outings.
This Saturday, the Licing mid-
gets . will be facing Dearborn.

In WOAA Action
Action continues to be fast
and exciting in the Clinton
Kinsmen pee wee houselcague
as Well as for the all-stars in
WOAA play.
This past week, the all-stars
picked up a win and a loss in
their 'two outings. They trim-
med Seaforth by a 5-3 count,
but were upset 6-2 by Mitchell.
Bill Stirling was 'the scoring
leader in both games, picking
up three tallies 'in the win and
both goals in 'the loss.
In houseleaglie action, the
,Hawks whipped the leading
Bruins by a 5-2 count, while
the Leafs scored a 3-1 victory
over the Canadiens.
Scheduled' games this week
see 'the Bruins Meeting • the
Canadiens an Monday at 6:00
p.m. and the Leafs tackle the
Hawks at 6:30 on Wednesday.
On Saturday afternoon, the
all.stars host Byron in one of
the features of Clinton's Minor
