He is at present in the vicinity
of Peterboro getting instruction
and information for the work.
Mrs. Stanley Lyon returned
home from 'hospital on Sun-
day after undergoing a critical
surgical operation. We hope
she will soon regain her
strength and enjoy good health.
Robert Watson, who was
under the doctor's care with
an attack of pneumonia, is able
to be around again.
UCW Meeting
The Aimwell Unit of the
UCW met on Monday evening
with a good attendance, includ-
ing a number of guests, Berean
Unit members and CGIT were
present.
An interesting film, "The
Visitor" depicting an Indian
Christian. looking at •Western
Christianity was shown by Rev.
Carson who later discussed whe-
ther our Christianity stresses
form rather than force.

nis Harris; pianist, Mrs. Ch-

Mrs.. A. Lockhart.
The following are the teach-
ers: senior class teacher, Mrs.
Elgin Cox; assistant, Mrs. Al-
vin Betties; intermediate, Mrs.
Ray -Cox; assistant, Mrs. John
McCowan; juniors, Mrs. A.

Holds Annual
AUBURN—The annual meet-
ing of the Community Memor-
ial Hall Board was held recent-
ly in the hall and all members
were present. Mr. Thomas Lei-
per, Reeve of Mullett, was :ap-
pointed chairman.
The minutes of the last meet-
ing were read by the _secretary,
Mrs. G. Taylor, Mrs. Evelyn
Millian-, newly appointed - repre-
sentative from Colborne Town-
ship was' welcomed .'ea the
board.
Mr. Bert Craig was appointed
Chairman of the board for the
coming year and the treasurer,
Mrs. Gordon R. Taylor, then
gave 'the annual financial report
for the year of 1963, showing
a balance of $112,50.
Mr. W. J. Craig was appoint-
ed caretaker for the .coming
year, and Mrs. Gordon R. Tay-
lor, secretary-treasurer.
The members of the Hall
Board wish to thank the ladies
of 'the Women's Institute and
members of the community for
their support and interest 'in
the hall during the past year.

was presented to the meeting

tons, A net increase in giving's
of approximately five percent
over the previous year was re-
ported, bringing the• total net
amount raised by the congrega-
tion 'and its organizations for
all purposes to $5,350,00.
Contributions to the current
fund totalled $2,748,00; „ the
United Church Women raised
aneroximately $1,200.00; the
Sunday School raised $343.00,
and the Messengers $34.00.
The two conspicuous increas-
es in givings were registered by
the Missionary and Mainten-
ati.ce Fund and the -Presbytery
• Projects Fund—M & M inereas-
ing by 17 percent to $656.00 and
Presbytery Projects by 46 per-
cent to total $501,00.

Talk Of Africa
As guest speaker, Miss Tay-
lor told of her work in Kenya,
Africa, 'as a .meneber of an
international group sponsored
by the World Council of
Churches.
She showed pictures of her
work there among the natives
where she assisted in building
a -school in a very elementary
manner, also showed 'them how
'to build fences and farm in a
more profitable way.
Mrs. Andrews took the chair
for the business, Mrs. G.- Rath-
well, secretary, read the min-
utes' of 'the previous meeting
and financial statements of last
year's 'busines's were given out.
The manse report was given
by Mrs. J. Nediger -and the
correspondence read by Mrs. J.
McGill. The president announc-
ed the date of the annual' con-
gregational meeting to be Jan-
uary 22. She also, brought in
several recommendations from
a recent executive meeting; the
Chief of Which was' that instead
of 'two bazaars held during the
year, a St. Patrick's Tea and
Bake Sale would be held March
14 and a fowl supper to be held.

ers. He congratulated the
ladies on the success 'of their

The January meeting of the
United Church Women of Grace
Church was held on Wednesday
afternoon of last week at the

The president, Mrs, William
Cox, gave the call 'to worship
and the Scripture lesson was
read' by Mrs. Allen Betties. Mrs.
E. Townshend 'led in prayer
and Mrs. Tom Sowerby intro-
duced the Study Book and an
interesting discussion followed.
The members answered the
roll call by handing in their
membership fees for the year.
The usual reports were heard
and money-making projects for
the new year were discussed.
A crib quilt was quilted dur-
ing the afternoon.

Pease .as chairman. The meet-
ing opened with prayer and

ed secretary.
