Devotions were tak- en by Mrs. Grant Mills and Mrs. Howard Johns. The guest speaker was Rev, Grant Mills. A very interesting part of the program was an exhibit of ab- out 30 wedding dresrs. The brides who have been married in the church wore their own, and others, as far back as 150 years ago, were modelled by the defendants of the brides who wore them. The commentary was given by Mrs. Elmer Townsend; dres- sed in a black frock and bonnet worn by her grandmother. Mrs, George McGregor, a -charter member was presented a life membership pin by Rey. G. Mills. The Clinton Guide Company had its first official function Monday night, with the "Flying Up" of five Brownies into Guid- es and one "Walking Up". Proud mothers and • a smat- tering of fathers watched as the honoured Brownies passed through the Brownie Gates into Guideland, • Their new patrol leaders then Happy Workers Donate Money To Two Groups The Happy Workers meeting- opened with the ode and prayer at the home of Mrs. Kan John- ston on the evening of October 16 with nine members and one visitor present. Roll call was to give a penny for an inch of the waistline. The treasurer's report was approved on the motion of Mrs. Ken Gibbings and Mrs. William Flynn, The club decided to donate to the CNIB and also to the Children's Aid in connection with the Christmas fund. The tea money was collected and then the lucky draw was won by Mrs. Elmer Dale. A introduced them to their cap- tain Mrs: K. Bush and lieuten- ant Karen Schefter. A Thanks badge was given by Guide Bonnie McLean and Brownies Janet Arnston and Lyn Caldwell ..to the former commissioner, Mrs. Cam Proc- tor, who had so willingly de- voted her time and valuable assistance. Films on fire prevention and accident prevention were help- ful and interesting to all. They were shown by Mr. Clare Magee. After a hearty campfire, taps were sung by both the Brown- ies and Guides,/ terminating a most successful evening. Those receiving wings were: Dianne Matthews, Lynn Wil- liams, Judy Finley, Marilyn Johnston and Judy Carter. Walking up was Donna Hog- gart. Garnet Harland, on behalf of the Clinton Legion Branch 140, presented the girls with com- passes. game of Court Whist was en- joyed by the- members and the evening closed with prayer. Next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Don Wat- son on the evening of Novem- ber 13. Roll call will be Christmas ideas. Present at the ceremony was the new commissioner, Mrs. M. Corrie and leaders from the Clinton Brownie Packs—Brown Owls: Mrs. R, Steveris, Mrs. G. Wonch; Tawny Owls: Mrs. E. McAdam, Mrs. L. May. Brownies Move Up —Hy And Walk The area's new Girl Guide Commissioner, Mrs. Maynard Corrie, made her first official visit to the Clinton Brownies last Wednesday, to present badges and stars to some of the members. Under the able leadership of Mrs. R. Stevens and Mrs. M. McAdam, these young girls were given training in the first major step in their work and achieved their badges and ser- vice stars. Attaining their Golden Bar were: Beth Allan, Nola Lee, Lynn Caldwell, Ann Critten- den, Debby Hopf, Donna Hog- gart, Bev Holmes, Peggy Sch- oenhals, Kathy Murphy, Heath- er McAdam, Barbara Rudd, Bonny Riehl and Grace Strong. Mr. Charles Small spent the weekend with his son and fam- ily in Port-Elgin. The Good Neighbor Club will, meet at the home of Mrs. Mabel Scott, Wednesday of next week. Thirteen members of the First Clinton Brownie Pack received their Golden Bar and first year star at a ceremony at the Legion Hall, Wednesday. Presenting these awards, along with other badges, was Mrs. Maynard Corrie, new Guide Commissioner in the area, who was performing her first official function in Clinton.
