Special Services
On Harvest Theme
HAYFIELD Harvest Thank-
giving was observed in Trinity
Church Sunday School as well
as the special church service
on Sunday last. The rector,
the Rev. E. J. B .Harrison
conducted both services.
After the opening exercises
in Sunday School, Mr. Harrison
explained that this occasion was
carrying out the old English
custom of thanking God for
the harvest.
The rector explained that
what we eat is a product of
the( harvest and he gave two
visitors, Pam and Jackie 'Park-
er the honour of carrying the
gifts, a tin each of corn pro-
ducts.
A teacher, Mrs. Don Matt-
hews carried the gift of a bas-
ket of flowers.
Children and teachers form-
ed a procession and, to the
chiming of the church bell,
marched from the Parish Hall,
around the outside, in the door
and up the aisle to the altar
with their gifts.
Mr. Harrison emphasized the
importance of the season to the
children,
The church had been beauti-
fully decorated for this occas-
ion by the Altar Guild,
The rector preached a most
impressive sermon at the spec-
ial service for Harvest Thanks-
giving, basing his remarks on
"And he 'spoke a parable un
to them, saying, The ground
of a_ certain rich man .brought
forth plentifully."
