The rector, the Rev. E. J. B .Harrison conducted both services. After the opening exercises in Sunday School, Mr. Harrison explained that this occasion was carrying out the old English custom of thanking God for the harvest. The rector explained that what we eat is a product of the( harvest and he gave two visitors, Pam and Jackie 'Park- er the honour of carrying the gifts, a tin each of corn pro- ducts. A teacher, Mrs. Don Matt- hews carried the gift of a bas- ket of flowers. Children and teachers form- ed a procession and, to the chiming of the church bell, marched from the Parish Hall, around the outside, in the door and up the aisle to the altar with their gifts. Mr. Harrison emphasized the importance of the season to the children, The church had been beauti- fully decorated for this occas- ion by the Altar Guild, The rector preached a most impressive sermon at the spec- ial service for Harvest Thanks- giving, basing his remarks on "And he 'spoke a parable un to them, saying, The ground of a_ certain rich man .brought forth plentifully." Berry) Miss Louise Allan, Hamilton, is visiting with her brother, Edgar Allan and Mrs. Allan, Miss Barbara Henderson and friend, Kitchener, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr.. and Mrs, John Henderson.. Mr. and Mrs. William Mur- doch, Hamilton, spent the weekend at the home of Mr. Murdoch's mother, Mrs. John R. Murdoch. Mr. and Mrs. George Hend- erson and Mr. and Mrs. John Henderson attended the funeral of the late Mrs. John Hender- son, Tharnesford, last week. The Brucefield CGIT held their first meeting for the year on Thursday with Mrs. Boughen and Mrs. G. Swan leading. The meeting opened by a supper and recreation. Mrs. Swan led the worship service and the business section was taken by Mrs. Boughen, when it was decided to hold a bazaar and tea on November 30. Five new members were wel- comed and instructed, namely: Brenda Ann Hargreaves, Linda Straughan, Brena Triebner, Betty Dalrymple and Joan Sin- clair.
