Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mar- shall, London, were with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weston over Friday night. Mr. and Mrs, Norman Coop- er, Mount Clemens, Mich„ spent the weekend at Mrs. Walter Westlake's home. Mr. and Mrs, Fred Weston and Cathy motored to Toronto on Saturday morning for the weekend, returning home via London, Spending the weekend with Mrs. J. Mc- Laughlin, London, and Guy Faller, Detroit, Misses Marie and Pauline Locher returned to Detroit on Wednesday after having spent a week with Misses A. M. and E. J. Stirling while sketching in the village. Mr. and Mrs. 3. D. Hughes and two children, 'Ferndale, Mich., spent a week at his parents' cottage. Mr. and Mrs. J. 0. Hughes. Detroit, came on Friday night to spend a fort- night at their cottage. Dr. A. L. Mrs, Lloyd Makins opened the meeting with the hynin, "What a, friend we have in Jesus", Mrs. H. Hohner read a Psalm followed by prayer offered by Mrs. Makins, Mrs. LeRoy Poth gave a splendid talk on the • study, book "The Word and the Way," Mrs, Charles Bell took charge of the business 'session and the thankoffering meeting w a s planned for October 3 with Mrs. Currie, Hensall, as guest speaker. Mrs. Makins thanked Mrs. Harris for inviting the mem- bers to hold this meeting at her lovely summer home. The lunch committee, Mrs. Walter Westlake, Misses M. and 3, Stirling, Mrs. Malcolm Toms and Mrs. J. H. Cobb as- sisted the hostess in serving refreshments. and Mrs. Chapman over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. George Cull, Clinton, have taken a Jowett cottage for September. Mr. Cull teaches boys' occupational classes, and Mrs. Cull, physical education at CHSS. They came to Clinton from London and St. Marys. Mrs. 3. Cluff was in London from Thursday to Saturday night attending the trousseau tea for Miss Joan Tillmann on Thursday and the marriage of her son, Robert,, to Miss Till- man on Saturday morning. Also attending the Cluff-Till- Mann nuptials were: Mr. and Mrs. F. P. Arkell, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred SCotchmer, Stephen and Michael, Squadron Leader Robert Mc- Kee and Mrs. McKee, Madison, Wis., attached to the U.S. Air Force in Madison as one of the chief controllers in the combat centre of 30th NORAD Region, occupied a Jowett cottage from Thursday to Monday and cal- led on many friends in this area. Mrs. McKee was former- ly Miss Agnes Coombe, Clinton. Mr. and Mrs. Dunton Bar- low, Grosse Point, have been holding a family reunion at their cottage. A number from the vicinity took in the "Threshers Re- union" at Blyth on Saturday. Mrs. Bert Allen spent the weekend with cousins in Wrox- eter, also spending a day with Mr. and Mrs. J. D. McGillvary of Port Elgin. 'WI Entertains Visitors The Women's Institute met last Wednesday evening with a good attendance, with guests from Belgrave and Clinton In- stitutes present. Following the opening exer- cises the secretary read a let- ter from the little protege in Hong Kong, which is always interesting. Miss Karen Allen then contributed two lovely solos and Mrs. Don Buchanan gave a humorous reading "Pop- ping Corn". Mrs. Elgin Josling rendered a fine piano selection and Miss Marjorie Papple then showed pictures taken while on her trip to England. Tillmann became the bride of Robert Alfred Cluff. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack A. Tillmann, London, and the groom is the son of Mrs. Cluff and the late Mr. Jack Cluff, Bayfield. Monseigneur J. Feeney offici- ated at the double ring cere- mony. Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose a floor- length gown of white chiffon over taffeta, trimmed with French lace. The tightly fitted bodice featured a square yoke of French lace trimmed with sequins, boat neckline and long lily point sleeves, The skirt was full from the waistline. A crown held her shoulder length veil which was also trimmed with French lace, and she carried a bouquet of red roses. Miss Barbara E. Tillmann, London, was her sister's brides- maid. She wore a turquoise peau de soie princess style gown with matching bow head- dress, and carried a bouquet of white and yellow shasta 'mums. Stephen A. Scotchmer, Bay- field, was his cousin's grooms- man, and Michael J. Scotch- mer, Bayfield, cousin of the' groom, ushered. Mrs. M. Pierce presided at the organ for the traditional wedding music. For the reception which fol- lowed at the home of the bride's parents, Mrs. 3. Till- mann received some 30 guests wearing a jacket dress in mink shade with mink trim, two- tone matching hat and corsage of yellow roses. Mrs. J. Cluff wore a printed green sheath frock with black accessories and white carnation corsage. The bride's grandmother, Mrs. A. Tillmann, -who resides with her son and is 90 years, of age, attended the wedding. She wore a blue silk dress,' grey feather hat, grey fox neck7 piece and a pink rose corsage. Bouquets of mixed flowers and glads graced the house for the reception and wedding breakfast. For a honeymoon trip to the United States, the bride wore a royal blue wool crepe suit with white fox fur collar, mat- ching hat and accessories and carried a, hand carved leather purse which she had made her- self. She wore an orchid cor- sage. After making the St. Clair Inn, Mich., their headquarters until Monday evening, the newlyweds came to Bayfield to spend the balance of the month at the J. Tillmann cottage. The bride is with the London Life Insurance Company, and the groom completes a course in Forestry at Dorset in De- cember. Shower Bride Prior to her marriage the BRUCEFIELD (MRS. H. F. BERRY, Correspondent) Miss Georgene McCartney spent the holiday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson McCartney and with her uncle, Mr. Robert McCartney; at De- troit. Miss M. Swan and Mrs. C. Ham have returned from a two week vacation at Bala. Master Kenneth Straughan has returned from the Sick Children's Hospital, London, where he had surgery on his nose. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Kaiser, Detroit, spent the weekend with friends in the village. Arkell in Bayfield at which there were about 40 guests. Trousseau Tea Mrs. J. Tillmann entertained at a trousseau tea at her home on September 5 in honour of her daughter. For receiving some 45 guests she wore a dress •in multi-col- oured print with tailored top and pleated skirt. Mrs. J. Cluff wore a blue Italian silk shift dress and the bride-elect a green and brown flowered silk fitted dress.
