140 held their monthly meeting
in the Legion Hall on Monday,
Mrs, William Watkins presiding and conducting the ceremony
for the installation of a new
Member, Mrs. W. Edgar, Clin-ton,
An invitation has been ae-
vented to send teams to the Wingharn bowling tournament
to, be held there on October 2.
As many members as possible
are requested to help in some
way in the Legion Hall on
September 14 and 28 to cater
to a wedding and a banquet.
Mrs. J. K, Cornish won the
mystery prize and the attend-
ance draw was unclaimed.
Following the meeting, a de-
licious Iunch was served by the
September committee.
The neat meeting will be held
on October 7; one week earlier
than usual.

Ontario Street United Church
was decorated with white bas-
kets of white and yellow glad-
ioli for the wedding of Betty
Ann Gibbings and Robert Jam-
es Miller, both of Clinton, on
Saturday.
The double - ring ceremony
was performed by Rev. Grant
Mills and traditional wedding
music was provided by Miss
Lois Grasby.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Warren H. Gib-
bings, and the groom's parents
are Mr. and Mrs. Frederick L.
Miller, all of Clinton.
Wearing a floor length gown
of nylon organza, the bride was
given in marriage by her fath-
er, The basque bodice of the
gown was all chantilly lace,
styled with continental sleeves
and a scalloped sabrina neck-
line, studded with sequins and
tiny seed pearls.
The full double-bouffant sk-
irt was edged with chantilly
lace scalloping and the chapel
train was finished with three
simultaneous bows.
To complete her bridal out-
fit, the, bride . chose a double-
rosette headdress with lace
scallop to hold her French
illusion bouffant veil. She held
a bouquet of. orange delight
roses,
Mrs. Douglas Gibbings, Lon-
don, matron of honour, 'wore a
dress of gold ppire de soir with
a panel front and gathered at
the back, self cord piping at
the waist line, how trim at
waist.
She wore a' white headdress
and shoes and carried orange
delight roses and wore a string
of white pearls with earrings
to match.
The bridesmaid, Miss Ruth
Goderich Twp. South
Mr. Barney Williamson is at
present a patient in Victoria
Hospital, London. Mrs. Wil-
liamson and son Nelson visited
him on Sunday and report the
patient is doing well.
Mr. Jack Stirling, Toronto
and his sister, Mrs. Lew Bailey,
Amherstburg, were callers re-
cently on their mother, Mrs.
James R. Stirling, at present a
patient in Clinton Public Hos-
pital.
Mr. Dan Gliddon, Holmesvine
was a caller on Colin Mac-
Donald last Thursday.
Mrs. Alf Warner had the
misfortune to fall and break a
bone in her foot last Tuesday.
She is presently a patient in
Clinton Public Hospital,

On Friday night Betty Ann
was guest at a miscellaneous
shower held at the home of Mrs.
Bill Holland.
. The house was gaily decorat-
ed with streamers, wedding
bells and a wishing well and
the guests enjoyed two inter-
esting wedding contests con-
ducted by Mrs, Ken Williams.
Two piano duets were played
by Mariel Wilson and Marilyn
Holland, and the two girls then
handed the gifts to the bride.
Amid a shower of confetti,
the recent bride gave a fitting
reply and a dainty lunch was
served by Miss Elaine Ball,
Mrs. Ken Williams and the
hostess.
One In Mitchell
A miscellaneous shower was
held for Betty Ann Gibbings at
the home of her sister, Mrs.
Ed Dolmage, Mitchell, on Aug-
ust 23, and was attended by
many relatives.
Contests and games were en-
joyed, directed by Mrs. B.
Bradshaw. Gifts were brought
in by Betty Ann's four nieces,
Debbie, Nancy, Brenda Gib-
bings and Linda Ann Dolmage.
Betty Ann thanked the lad-
ies fittingly.
C. James Dale, 87,
Lifelong Farmer
A life-long resident of Hullett
Township, C. James Dale, pass-
ed away in Clinton Public Hos-
pital on Sunday after a short
illness. He was in his 87th
year.
Mr. Dale had been a respect-
ed farmer in the township, hav-
ing retired a few years ago. He
was a member of Constance
United Church.
The funeral service was held
from the Ball and Mutch fun-
eral home on Tuesday with bur-
ial in Clinton. Cemetery. Rev.
William Carson, Londesboro,
and Rev. Clifford Britton, Sea-
forth, officiated.
Pallbearers included Joseph
Riley, Frank Riley, Ross Mc-
Gregor, John Jewitt, Earl Law-
son and Lorne Lawson.
Murray, Muriel, Clare, Lor-
raine, Cathy and Sheryl Dale
were flower-bearers,
Mr. Dale is survived by three
sons, Verne and William J., both
of Hullett; Arnold, Clinton; one
daughter, Mrs. A. W. (Thelma)
Bromley, Kitchener; two sist-
ers, Mrs. Thomas Knox, Londes-
boro; Mrs. Rosy Knox, Clinton;
12 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his
wife, the former Mary Dodds.

was named for its French an-
cestry and for the salt deposits
which attracted Animals.
Local Couple Exchange Vows
Crich, Clinton, wore a blue'
poire de soir gown with panel
front and box pleats at the
back with a satin trim bow at
the waist. She also wore a
string of white. pearls with
matching earrings, a white
headdress a n d carried yellow
roses.
The guests were ushered by
Wayne Stanley, Grand Bend,
while Douglas Gibbings, Lon-
don, was groomsman.
A reception followed at Ho-
tel Clinton and the bride's mo-
ther received guests attired in
a red double knitted suit with
black accessories and a cor-
sage of Mamie carnations.
She was assisted by the
groom's mother, who wore a
green silk dress with beige ac-
cessories and a corsage of or-
ange delight roses.
Relatives attending the wed-
ding were from Goderich, Mit-
chell, Stratford, Grand Bend,
Porter's Hill and London,
For her wedding trip, the
bride donned a red boucle suit
with black accessories and wore
a corsage of white carnations.
On their return they will
make their home in Toronto.

Meet In Canton
To Plan Program
AUBURN — Over 30 CGIT
leaders of Huron County gath-
ered in Wesley-Willis United
Church, Clinton, for their an-
nual leader's council meeting,
recently. Mrs. R. S. Hiltz, Exe-
ter, was in charge of the meet-
ing and opened with a short
devotional period.
The minutes were read by the
secretary, Mrs. Doris Cooper,
Goderich, and she also gave the
financial statement.
Mrs. Hiltz reported that 73
girls had attended CGIT camp
this year and Mrs. Arthur
Jackson, Belgrave, reported on
the leadership course held this
year at Alma College.
The study for this year was
discussed and it was announced
that a film night would be held
on October 23 in Clinton to
see films relating to the study.
Plans were made to form
fellowship groups throughout
the county and this was left to
a committee.

Local Kinette Club
Extends Welcome
To Five Members
The first regular Kinette
meeting of the season was held
at the home of Mrs. Bill Fink
on Tuesday. FiVe new members
attended.
They were Mrs. Mike Eland,
Mrs. Larry Jones, Mrs. Ken
McIntosh, Mrs, Gordon Grigg
and Mrs. Percy Pugh.
Plans were made to celebrate
the coming anniversary of the
club on September 24, by go-
ing to London for the evening.
It was decided to hold hobo
teas during the month of • Oc-
tober. The . club this year is
sponsoring a six-year-old Afri-
can boy.
It was decided as well to
take charge of the hospital cart
for the month of November.
A delicious lunch was served
by Mrs. Mary Edgar and Mrs.
Lorine Denomme following the
meeting.
