Exchange Vows In Clinton Ceremony
Miss Bernadette Leddy, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Raymond Leddy, Lucknow, recently exchang-
ed vows with William Andrews, Auburn, in a
ceremony before Rev. D. J. Lane, Clinton. The
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Warner Andrews.

Percy Walden
AUBURN — Relatives and
friends gathered at the .1. Keith
Arthur funeral home on Mon-
day at 2 p.m. to pay their final
tribute to Percy Walden who
passed away after a lingering
illness in Clinton Public Hos-
pital on Saturday, August 24.
He was the son of the late
John Walden and Susana Stap-
leton and was in his 73rd year.
He was born in East Wawan-
osh Township and had farmed
for many years on a farm in
Hullett until he moved to Au-
burn this spring. A member of
Knox United Church, he is
survived by one sister, Mrs.
John (Thirza) Caldwell, Blyth
and a niece, Miss Viola Thomp-
son who has lived with him
for many years.
Rev, Charles Lewis was in
charge of the service and bur-
ial took place in ;Union ceme-
tery, 13lyth.
The pallbearers were Wilfred
131unkett, Bert Daer, Roy Eas-
om, Everett Taylor, Kenneth
McDougall, Sidney McClinchey.
The flower bearers were Ted
East, Victor Youngblut, Robert
Youngblut and Glenn Young-
blut.
Relatives were present from
London, Wingham, Blyth, God-
erich and the surrounding dis-
trict. The beautiful floral trib-
utes paid a silent tribute to a
kind and good uncle, neighbour
and friend.

A letter was read .concerning
the gift coupon, No. .367 from
the FWIC for adult education
in Northern Canada, This Na,
tional project is to assist the
expansion of the WI in the far
North and the members voted
$10 to buy one coupon,.
The secretary also read a
letter from the convener of
Citizenship but these projects
were left over, It was decided
to again sponsor the 4-H club,
"The Milky Way" and the lead-
ers chosen were Miss Jannette
Dobie and Miss/Marian Hickey.
The WI members will take part
in the fall project on desserts
and the leaders selected were
Mrs. Lloyd Humphreys a n d
Mrs, Thomas Lawlor. -
The president thanked all

ent .Wedding dinner and Mrs.
Andrew Kirkconnell, convener
of the card committee, gave a
detailed account and read th-
ank you notes for cards of
sympathy, get well and baby
cards and bootees.

one", accompanied by Miss Tier-

The convener of home .econ,
onne.a, Mrs. Gordon Chamney,
introduced the 4-H leaders,
Mrs. W, Bradnock and Mrs,
Gordon Dobiewho spoke of the
twoprojects, "Dressing Up
Vegetables" and "Being Well
Dressed and Well Groomed,"
The girls demonstrated their
dusters and did exercises to a
record which they had used
during the project.
Mrs. Chamney conducted an
interesting contest on dress
materials and the winner was
Mrs. Oliver Anderson.
A highlight of the afternoon
was a demonstration on dress-
ing up a relish plate by Mrs.
Ed. Davies. She made an at-
tractive plate which was very
colourful and delicious. The
motto, "Whether a fellow ends
up with a nest egg or a goose
eggs depends on the chick he
marries," was given by Mrs.
Wes Bradnock. Lunch was ser-
ved by Mrs, Robert J. Phillips,
Mrs. Robert Chamney, Mrs.
Wes Bradnock, assisted by Miss-
es Diane Chamney and Jill
Bennett,
