Clinton's Fish and Game
Midgets opened UP a 1-0 lead
in their best-of-three WOAA
''B" semi-firm], with New Ham-
burg at the local park, Tees-
day, whipping the visitors by
a 5;0 count.
Clare Magee limited the New
Hamburg club tq only three
scattered singles in picking up
the win in the six and a half
inning tray, while his mates
bunched their five bits togeth-
er to record the WM.
Magee started out shakily in
the contest and 'loaded t h e
bases in the first frame on a
fielder's choice, a single by
Orval Bast and a base on balls
to Orest Romashyna.
However, he worked his way
out of the jam by whiffipg the
sixth man ep on three straight
pitches.
After Clinton went down in
order in the same frame, New
Hamburg threatened again in
the top of the second when
they POt men on second and
third, but again the locals got
put of trouble when. Wayne
Weber grounded put to end the
inning.
The Fish and Game crew st-
arted' rolling in their half of
the inning, scoring their first
run when Larry Pearson tour-
ed the sacks after leading off
with a single.
Bob Pearson sacrificed him

PP an error by the Visitor's
right fielder .and came .1iome

fourth frameA as he rounded
into, his usual gee .feree .,and
Clinton wrapped up the .contest
in. the bottom of the foUrth
with four big tallies.
John Cooper started the ral-
ly off with a single and Bob
Pearsee and Charles Switzer
each worked Wayne Weber for
a walk before Orest Romash-
yna came be to relieve hirri on
the mound,
IIe was promptly met with
consecutive singles by Larry
Pickett and Megee and the
first four batters of the inning
crossed the plate.
That proved to be all the
cushion the locals needed as
they maintained the Margie
until the game was called due
to darkness,

With their backs to the wall,
the locals pounded out 14 hits
in the game which was played
under the lights in Goderich.
They will move back to Sea-
forth tonight (Thursday) in an
effort to square the set and
force the deciding game back
in Goderich on Friday night.
Clinton wasted little time in
showing their star hurter they
were right behind him as they
opened up a 7-2 margin at the
end of the second frame and
never looked back.
Seaforth actually jumped in-
to a 2-0 lead in the top of the
first inning when two Clinton
errors and a single by Petrie
sent Beutternniller and Smith
across the plate.
However, the locals bounced
back with five in their turn at
the plate, with Bob Livermore

Meet St. Marys
Clinton Kinsmen pee wees
wrapped up their playoff set
with Goderich in two straight
games, Wednesday, clipping
the County Town crew 8-5
right on their own diamond.
The local club, coached by
Ken Clynick, will now meet
St. Marys for the right to ad-
vance to the WOAA finals.
Clinton took advantage of
three Goderich errors in the
first inning of the tilt to plate
five big runs and they never
looked back, although Goderich
pressed them throughout.
The losers never gave up and
the game ended with them
having the bases loaded.
Mike Graham was the win-
ning pitcher, going the distance
and along with Bob Miller, he
supplied some of the heavy
artillery.
Graham contributed a long
double, while Miller pounded
out a triple in the victory.,
Turland kept Goderich in the
game with one homer and a
triple and another hit that
went for three bases due to a
couple of Clinton miscues.
The local nine will travel
to St. Marys tonight (Thurs-
day) for the opening game of
the semi-final set and will play
the second game back here on
Saturday.
oft triple, Two Seaforth errors,
a double by Bob Mane and
lefotereura's single produced the
spree, as they sent nine men
to bat against C, Vint,
Livermore scored his second
run when he walked to lead, off
the second and Bob McDonald
followed. Bill Craig's sacrifice
with a single to send him home.
McDonald came home on sing-
les by Ron McKay and Malt
Edgar,
Seaforth pecked away at the
lead with single tallies in the
third and fourth with Beutten-
miller and -Henderson scoring
the runs after pounding out
triples.
But Clinton pulled the game
out of reach with four more
runs in the seventh and three
in the eighth.
Ron Livermore's double and
Motomura's single, aided. by
two. Seaforth errors and a free
pass gave them their four in
the seventh, while Malt Edgar
doubled and Ron and Bob Liv-
ermore singled to produce the
outburst in the eighth.
Seaforth picked up 11 hits off
the Clinton hurler, but he bore
down when in trouble to work
his way out, recording nine
strikeouts.
Motomura paced the hitting
attack as well, picking up three
safeties, while Bob Livermore,
Bob Mann, Malt Edgar and Ron
Livermore hit a pair, each. Bill
Craig, Bob McDonald and Ron
McKay had a single safety each.
Seaforth committed five er-
rors in the tilt, while Clinton
had two bad plays.
Win Third Game
Seaforth took their first lead
in the series when they pound-
ed out a 'convincing 15-2 drub-
bing over the locals in Sea-
forth, Thursday.
They exploded for eight tal-
lies in the third frame and
never looked back in posting
the win to take a 2-1 'margin
in the best-of-seven affair.
Doug McDougall and Bob
Mann shared the pitching dut-
ies for Clinton but couldn't con-
tain the power of the winners.
Patterson and Beuttenmiller
paced the attack with a home-
run each, while Smith had a
triple and three singles to be a
constant thorn in the side of
the locals.
Clinton scored both their runs
off Vint in the fourth frame
when Bob McDonald hit a
single and Ron Livermore con-
tributed a double to cross the
plate.
Livermore had two of the
Six Clinton hits, while Bob
Welsh, Bob Livermore, Mc-

Late Flurry
Playing back in Clinton on
Friday, Seaforth • came up with
a 17-8 romp as they broke lose
in the last half of the tilt to
take a commanding 3-1 lead in
the series.
The locals actually held a
slim lead in the game until the
sixth inning, but the winners
scored three runs in each of the
sixth and seventh frames and
added six more before they
were retired in the top of the
ninth.

Clinton moved ahead by a

when Mait Edgar and Bob Liv-

The teams traded single runs
in the fifth with Clinton hold-
ing a 7-5 margin, but then Sea-
forth really came to life with
their power display, aided by
some shoddy fielding by the
locals.
They plated three runs in the
sixth without picking up one
hit and scored three more in
the next frame on an equal
number of hits.
In the last frame they sent
their complete lineup to bat be-
fore they were retired.
Doug McDougall took the
loss, while Vint was again the
winner.
