Due to inadequate summer
practice attendance and heavy
demand for their services, the
members of the Clinton Com-
munity Marching and Concert
Band have decided not to take
part in the Canadian National
Exhibition contest this month.
Bandmaster, George Wonch,
in making the announcement
following a meeting of the
band, he hoped the group would
take part in the competitions
next year.
He said he hoped the members
would realize that regardless
of how much a band is per-
forming or is wanted,a 100 per-
cent practice turnout is still
necessary to be successful.
The band will however con-
tinue to fulfill its many other
engagements that are as fol-
lows:
Clinton Lions Frolic, August
17; St. Marys tattoo, August
21; Clinton's Calvacade of
Bands, Atigust 23 and 24; Gue.
iph Labour Day parade, Sept-
ember Waterloo Band Fest.
ival, September 7; 11/111Vertoti
centennial, September 21.
Sunday night concerts by the
band will definitely resume this
week and will continue' through
to the end of September.
Due to the heavy schedule
and indifferent 'Weather, con-
certs at the Library Park have"
been cancelled during Most of
the summer.
