GENTLEMEN; We have audited the accounts and records of the Township of Stanley for the year ended. December 31, 1962, and have prepared therefrom the statements listed in the index .accompanying this report. Weesuggest that a budget be prepared each year as re- quired by the Ontario Municipal Act R,S,O. 1960 Section 297. 2. Although the tax notice states that 2% penalty will be added to all unpaid taxes after December 15, no penalty was collected on 1962 taxes although several collections were made, after December 15. 3. With the exception, of 'the Treasurer of the School Area Board we have not examined fidelity bonds for the Treasurers of the School Boards and it is presumed that they are not bonded. 4. There is no authority for the Township to advance credit to individuals for the purpose of the construction of municipal drains. AUDITOR'S OPINION • Subject to the foregoing qualifications we hereby report that in our opinion (1) The financial transactions which have come under our notice have been within the power of the municipality, (2) The audit has been conducted in accordance with the instructions of the Department of Municipal Affairs. (3) The financial statements present fairly the financial position of the Municipality as at December 31, 1962 and the results of its operations for the year ended on that date. (Signed) A. M. Mrs, Peter Huismen and four children, Aylmer, were Sunday guests of'ller. and Mrs. Harry Van Wieeren and family. Oswald Brown, Q.C., Mrs. Brown, Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Alvin Mete Windsor; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Little, Hensel', vis- ited Sunday with Mr, and Mrs. N. Long. Mrs. Clara Dowson, while on vacation in the northern part of Michigan, had the misfortune of cracking a bone in her right hip. She was taken to St. Jo- seph's Hospital in Sarnia dur- ing last week. A' speedy re- covery is hoped for. Miss Joyce Hood entertained at a luncheon Sunday in honor of Miss Berva Switzer, bride- elect of August. Those attend- ing were school friends from No. 14 Stanley, Miss Switzer was presented with a set of TV tables by Miss Hood from the group. Recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Ted Robinson and family were: her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. Lawrence and brother Jim, Moose Jaw, Sask.; Mr. and Mrs. G. Wilke, Toronto; a sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. E. Strand, Moose Jaw, Sask„ Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Robinson and family, London. liy Grace Middleton The home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Middleton was the scene, of a very happy geth^' Pring on Sunday evening, July 28. The circle was completed this yeat with the return of Pr. and Mrs, Grinelay (nee Barbara) from California, to take up residence in London, Pr. and. Mrs.. Melleels And family, Toronto, now holi- daying in Bayfield were pre- sent; Mr. and Mrs. Ted Middle- ton and family were up from Stratford. More locally situated are the other members of the family, Mrs. Bill Counter and Mrs. Bob Campbell, Clinton and Donald and David Middleton, on the Middleton farms. And last and not least, there were 23 grandchildren adding interest to the occasion. Present also were cousins: Miss Carol Kennedy, Toronto and Stewart arid Grace Middle- ton. Barbecue experts, Bob Camp- bell, Bill Counter and Ted Mid- dleton were kept very busy supplying the company with their succulent wares. How can small boys and girls stow away so many hamburg- ers, etc.! The adults too, did very well and the groaning tables were speedily lightened of their many delectables. The children had a wonder- ful time and so did the adults. We particularly enjoyed watch- ing the children's races. Many raced for the first time - in various •directions. Stiles are on a trip East after which they will travel West to RCAF Sta- tion Baldy Hughes, Prince George, B.C. Sgt. and Mrs. Frank Kelly and their family are moving to St. Margaret's, N.B. Mr. and Mrs. John Carisse and son, Stephen, Ottawa, were visiting at the home of Cpl. and Mrs. R. Haspeck, Robert Has- peck, of the Royal Canadian Navy, Halifax, spent his leave with his parents, We take this opportunity to welcome the new personnel and their families arriving on this station. We hope to be of ser- vice recording current events in this column, now and more so when the social season rolls along. Dancers Plan We are reminded that within a few months, square dancing will be in full swing. Commenc- ing Wednesday, September 11, a 24 week beginners' square dance class will be held on the station in building 107. Classes are open to all sew- ing personnel, their dependants 18 years and over, DTB and DND civilian employees on a couples only basis. Further information may be obtained from F/L A. K. Shep- herd at local 351 or F/L H. Lochhead, local 374. There is need for some ex- perienced pairs to make squar- es: the Cross-Trailers Square Dance Club will commence square and round dancing on Thursday, September 12 at 8:00 p.m. at building 107.
