WIDOWS
ALLOWANCES
New benefits for widows and single women, 60 to 64 years
of age, are now available and applications are being accepted
for grants up to $65.00 per month with free medical service' •
and hospital insurance.
This new welfare program will assist women
who have reached• their 60th birthday, with
income less than $1,140 yearly, 'and liquid
assets of not more than $1,000, resident at
least one year in Ontario.
Women who may be eligible include: a'
widow, an unmarried woman, a married
woman whose husband is in an institution,
or who is divorced or has been deserted,
for more than 6 months.
A Reminder to Old Age Security
Recipients:
Free Medical Assistance and Ontario Hotpital Insurance
may be granted to single persons whose annual income
is not above $1,140.00 and Svhose liquid assets de not
exceed $1,000.06. These beriellts are available to married
couples whose annual income is not over $1,980.00 With
liquid assets no higher thaii $1000.00.

new provision designed to encourage students to complete

ton's Spring Show on Saturday
and with the number Of ex-
hibits being received and dis,
plays set up, "space" may turn

and the usual flock of last min-
ute entrants is expected again.
The directors of the Central
Huron Agriculture Society have
been bisy at the fairgrounds
this week getting things in
Shape for the exhibitors.
The Clinton Park Board have
also been doing considerable
work at the grounds and have
the grandstand repaired, grass
Cut and new fence erected in
several areas.
The Joyes Midway from Lon-
don has already been set up
and will be ready for opera-
tion on Friday night,
Riehl reported there would
be no room for delay in the
official opening ceremonies as
Dr. G. E. Hall, president of the
University of Western Ontario,
has to be back in London by
4:00 p,m. to catch a plane for
a visit to Ottawa.
He 'will be joined in the cere-
mony by Hon. C. S, Mael\Taugh-
ton, minister of highways; El-
ston Cardiff, Huron MP and
Murray Gaunt, Hui On-Bruce
MPP.
The four dignitaries will be
joined by the reeves of the
surrounding municipalities plus
other invited dignitaries.
One of the new features of
this year's fair will he a gigan-
tic rabbit competition and show-
ing, featuring several of the
leading breeders in this area
and throughout Western On-
tario,
Lloyd Shantz, RR 2, Water-
loo, will be' on hand to judge
the rabbits and pets and one of
the unusual entries he will see
in the latter is a display of
lizards being exhibited by an
area youth.
Afternoon entertainment will
be provided by Clarke 1Tohn-
ston, the "Kansas Farmer", and
performers from RCAF Clinton
will be featured at night,
The Clinton Community Con-
cert and Marching Band will
join with the Clinton Legion
Pine Band to lead the parade
from the Legion hall at 1:00
P.M. and the two musical
groups will also perfortn at the
grounds throughout the day,
Riehl and president, Frank
Falconer, appeared on CKNX-
TV on Tuesday night to give
the fair a last minute "plug",
The two were on last week,
but due to troubles at •the sta-
tion, the show Was only seen
in a very Small area,
•The secretary has asked that
all directors contact the chair-
men of the various committees
and to be on hand to fulfill
their duties.

After considerable discussion
a new policy of holding assoc-
talon meetings was adopted,
Only one general meeting wil'

instead of the two held prey-
iously.
However, another meeting of
appointed officials, including
clerks, treasurers, assessors,
etc., will be held in addition
to the spring Meeting,
The association also approv-
ed a resolution calling for del-
etion of Section 223 of the
Ontario Municipal Act to make
publishing of auditors' .financ-
ial statements in local news-
papers unnecessary.
The resolution was introduc-
ed by J, NI, Eckert, MeKillop
Township,. who said publishing

For Swine

A committee• of Huron Hog
Producers has concluded the
task of selecting the 160 gilts
from R.O.P. tested stock for
the 80 members of the Huron
County Hog Producers 4-H
Swine Club.
The Hog Producers are fin-
ancing the purchase of a pair
of gilts for each of the mem-
bers of the club and the youths
will draw lote for them .at the
Seaforth fair grounds on Thurs-
day (tonight) at 7:00 p.m.
Swine breeders will deliver
the gilts to the grounds in
the morning and officials will
spend the afternoon sorting and
pairing the gilts as well as re-
cording necessary pedigree in-
formation,
The gilts have been purchas-
ed from 15 of the top pure-
bred swine herds in South-
western Ontario and they in-
clude 49 pair of Yorkshires, 24
pair of Lacombes and seven
pair of Landrace gilts.
April has been set as the
tentative date when the club
will hold their sale, at which
time one of the gilts will be
