counted by team captains anti
then turned over to' the branch
members on hand.
Money from rural areas was
turner in, at the school on
Thursday morning and was lo-
eked after by L. R. Maloney,
business administrator.
The folowing article on the
preparation for the campaign
and the student leaders was
written by Gwen Davies, an
11.0 student.
About 250 students with am-
bitious spirits raised their
hands to help on our school's
Cancer Drive on Wednesday,
April 24.
The Rev, Mr. Park of Wes-
ley-Willis United Church gave
us an outline of what we were
about to participate in and
gave us our goal.
When Mr. Park spoke to us,
he pointed out the fantastic
number of lives claimed by
cancer in the past. This will
continue as it is continuing
now if a cure is not found.
Early diagnosis along with a
few modern techniques help,
however, and literature con-
cerning the disease was dist-
ributed in, the hope that some
lives may be saved' through
knowledge of the symptons.
The returns of the drive were
taken to Wesley-Willis Church,
returns which will perhaps even
find a cure. At least, these
funds may aid future victims.
A special thanks to all who
gave so generously towards this
worthwhile cause.
