Maintenance 'cost, including oil change, lubrication, etc., for one year's operation was $232.69 for work performed here, The vehicle has been driven 21,69Q miles. Thus, maintenance cost has been only 1.07 cents per mile. The report also reads: "He blamed the Chief for not look- ing after the car properly, etc." This too is inaccurate, Chief Thompson maintained the vehicle with regular oil changes, and inspections as recommended by the manufac- turer. Our records prove this. Original invoices are undoubt- edly on file in the Clerk's of- fice. Yours very truly, Lorne Brown Motors Ltd, per Lorne J. Brown. ED. NO1'.; — In conversation with Reeve Morgan Agnew, the News-Record has learned that the $800 for repairs to the police cruiser included body work following an accident in- volving the car, This fact was not presented in the discussion at council and as it entailed over half the fig- ure quoted, the News-Record regrets that the general refer- ence to "repairs" was mislead- ing. GIVEN RAW DEAL Dear Sir: To whom it may concern . . . and I believe the situation which has developed around our Chief of Police should be the concern of every ratepayer in the town of Clinton. In the first place, if there was a reasonable complaint against our Chief of Police, the Police Committee should have dealt with it. After calling on the Ontario Police Commission to investigate the situation, surely the ratepayers are entitl- ed to a report on their finding, also Chief Thormison. Chief Thompson was man enough to offer his life for his country in the last war and went up through the mud and dirt in Italy. Surely this man is entitled to better treatment than adding insult to injury by refusing him a raise in salary and giving the two junior men an increase. I would like to say in closing, that in my 40 years in Clinton, I don't believe that we 'have had a better or more gentle- Bayfield Ladies dear KW Report Hayfield UCW met on Thurs- day, April 4, in the church and 17 members were present.
