UCW Willing Workers
The March meeting of Unit 4
"The Willing Workers" ' was
held on Wednesday evening,
March 1.3 at the home of Mrs.
R, Dalrymple with an attend-
mice of .25.
As the ladies were assembling
a recording with a discussion
about the new curriculum of
the United Church was played.
The book, "The Word and the
Way" is part of the new cur-
riculum,
Unit 4 is in charge of the
May UCW meeting and this
will be an evening meeting, the
UCW having granted their con-
sent„ It was decided to hold
the meeting in the church san-
ctuary, thus avoiding any con-
flict with the Explorer program.
Names were obtained of ladies
who will help with this meet-
ing,
A tentative date for an ex-
ecutive meeting was set at.
which the May UCW meeting
will be planned and further
financial projects for the re-
mainder of the year will be
discussed. If members have any
suggestions of items that should
be discussed, they are to let
the unit leader know before
the end of March.
Margaret McQueen reported
on the March UCW meeting.
Members were asked to avoid
rattling communion glasses fol-
lowing the communion service
and to refrain from handling
money during the presentation
of the treasurer's report at the
general meetings.
Mrs. H. Johnston gave a good
suggestion concerning delegates'
reports. She suggested that
each member who attended an
event, requiring a report, should
relate one worthwhile item
from the 'total prograin.
Support was requested i n
connection with the • play on
Wednesday, March 27. The
Sunday School is the sponsor
and it is in need of financial
assistance.
Rev.. Jorgenson, missionary on
furlough from Trinidad, will be
speaking - at the church on
April 25.
A member asked adults to
come out to Sunday School and
encourage a revival of the adult
classes. The committee of stew-
ards is requesting that the con-
gregation spread out church
givings over the year, and thus

Remain Active
Brownies of the First and
Fourth 'Clinton Packs have been
buzzing with activity for the
past month and on "Thinking
Day" they celebrated the birth-
days of their founders by hav-
ing a skating party at the Cl-
inton Arena,
They were pleased to have
Guides of the First Clinton
Company a n d First Bayfield
Brownie Pack join in the party,
Many of the girls earned
their skaters badges, ably test-
ed by Mrs. Lloyd Carter. Fol-
lowing skating, hot dogs, hot
chocolate, coffee (for leaders),
and Brownie Candles were en-
joyed by all.
. These were prepared and ser-
ved at the Legion Hall by mem-
bers of the Local Association,
Mrs. C. Proctor, Mrs. L, Carter,
Mrs. W. P. Andrews, Mrs. R,
R. Rudd, Mrs. H. Kingswell and ,
Mrs. R. Powers,
On Sunday, February 24, the.
Brownies, Guides, Cubs, Scouts
and leaders, held a full-dress
church parade at the Ontario
Street United Church. Our
thanks to Rev. Grant Mills for
his very appropriate address.
The Brownies participated in
World Day of Prayer, Match 1,
at Wesley-Willis United Chtirch,
Judy Carter, a member of the
Fourth Clinton Pack, took part

The United Church Women
held their March meeting on
Tuesday, Match 1Z in the
ChuPeh and Mrs. H. Jones chair-
ed the meeting with Mrs. Emer-
son Kyle taking the worship.
The topic was taken by Mrs,
Eileen Consitt and a reading
given by Mrs. Ii. Meleana
Mrs. Howard Pinkbeiner and
Mrs. Edisdn McLean were the

The worship was conducted
by Mrs. A. Aldwinckle and
Mrs. J, Mustard, The study,
taken from the chapter, "Man
before -Ged". of the Word and
the Way was introduced by
Mrs, A, Taylor,
Mrs, M. Graham had prepar-
ed study sheets containing u
brief summary, bible verses and
questions from each of the three
chapter divisions.' These proved
quite helpful to the three groups
which discussed some of the questions. Later a secretary re-
ported fop each group,
A bake sale replaced enter-
tainmerit and approximately .$17
was realized. Refreshments
were served by Mrs. L. 'Thomp-
son's committee. Ladies depart-
ed, expressing appreciation to
the hostess for her kind hos-
pitality. '
The members were in favour
of a penny sale at the April
meeting, The telephone com-
mittee will be contacting the
members regarding the next
meeting.
The March meeting of the
Women's Auxiliary of St. Jam-
es, Middleton was held March
6 at the home of Mrs. John
Grigg.
Owing to illness and stormy
weather the attendance . was
down to seven members and
the quilt that was to have been
quilted left for a later date,
Mrs. Ray Wise opened the
meeting with a call to worship
for the Lenten season.
The scripture lesson was read
::y Mrs. Ray Wise and the roll
all was answered by a verse
of scripture containing the
word "repent".
Mrs. J. Grigg gave the sec-
.vtary's report,
Correspondence consisted of a
letter from the Huron Unit of
the Canadian Cancer Society
asking for volunteers from the
society to canvass this area.

The WA weather report for
February was 19 sunny days
and nine cloudy ones- and group
members paid accordingly to
the group leaders.
The president, Mrs. Ray Wise
closed the meeting with prayer.
Lunch was served by the host-
ess and a social half hour fol-
lowed,

Enjoy Hockey Tlit
On Saturday, March 16 at
the Station Arena, a hard
fotzght hockey game -took place
between the Algonquin and the
Clinton '13' Wolf CO packs,
'B' Pack tools the lead in
the opening minute of the game,
and held it through to the last
period, when the Algonquins
suddenly rallied and spoiled a
shut-out for the visitors.
The final score was 4-1 for
the visitors.
Glen Irwin and David Faw-
cett tallied for 'B' Pack while
Robert Prest scored the lone
goal for the Algonquins.
xn traditional style, both
teams repaired to the Cub Hall
to lick their wounds and gnaw
on some tidbits found by the
Old Wolves.
And in true Cub fashion the
Cubs remembered the motto
"Do Your Best", both in the
game and in the gnawing,
