Miss Mary Blackstone, Gode- rich, was a guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Truner over Christmas night. George Bell, Toronto, was home for Christmas, his wife having motored to the city for him on Monday, Mrs. Myron Butler, Clinton, came on Monday to spend a few days with her sister-in-law Mrs. Alf Scotchmer. Mr. and Mrs. F. P., Arkell, Mr. and Mrs. R. Turner, Phil- lip and Gayle, spent Christmas in Goderich with Mr. and Mrs. D, Sager and family. Mrs. C. W. Brown and Mrs. A. Armstrong spent Christmas with the latter's son, John Armstrong and family, Brons- on Line. Mr. and Mrs. R. Humphrey and Carl, Port Stanley, spent Christmas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. Kerr. Mrs. David Battye substitut- ed as teacher in the Junior room, Bayfield Public School on Thursday and Friday for Mrs. Parker. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Grimes and Derek, London came on Friday to be with his parents Mr. and Mrs. George Bellcham- ber for the Christmas vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fraser left on Sunday to be with their daughter Mrs. George Fellows and family, Riverside, for Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Higgins motored to Toronto on Christ- mas morning to be with their son James at the home of his aunt, Mrs. M. Chesney. They returned home on Wednesday. .At the R, S. Blair home for Christmas were Miss Ethel Blair, London; F/O and Mrs. David Battye and Blair, St. Bruno, Quebec and Miss Brenda Blair, St. Thomas. Guests of Mrs. H. K. King for Christmas Day dinner were her niece and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Rowse and four child- ren, London and Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Smith. Mr. and Mrs. John MacKen- zie, Margo and John, Toronto, arrived on Sunday to spend the Christmas holidays with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. MacKenzie. Mr. and Mrs. William C. Parker, Charlie and Kim, Lon- don, came on Thursday of last week to spend a vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wil- liam E. Parker. Mrs. Viola Wurn and Nesbitt Woods, Toronto, were the gu- ests of their nephew, the Rev. Lorne Sparks and family and sister, Mrs. Alex Sparks from Saturday until Wednesday. Miss Elaine Weston, London was with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weston over Christ- mas. Robert Marshall, London, was also with them over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. R. L. MacMil- lan left on Thursday of last week to spend the Christmas season with their daughter and family, S/Sgt. and Mrs. J. Mayman and Jeffery. Mrs. William E. Parker re- ceived the sad news on Thurs- day morning, December 20, of the sudden death of her broth- er, Wilfred G. Herbert, Mit- chell, in Scott Memorial Hos- pital, Seaforth. Dr, and Mrs. Ray Flowers, Lynn, Mickey and Terry, Chicago, visited his Parents, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Flowers from Friday night until Christ- mas morning. Dr. Flowers is doing post graduate work in internal medicine, Flight Cadet Ted Turner ar- rived late Saturday night to spend a week's Christmas leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs, Grant Turner. He motor- ed from RCAF Station Winni- peg, leaving there on Friday night. Grant Turner, London, was also home for Christmas. Misses Jacqueline, Vicki and Judi Cluff and Bob Cluff, Lon- don, spent Christmas with their mother, Mrs. J. Cluff. Also with Mrs, Cluff and fam-' ily for Christmas dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Alf Scotchmer, Stephen, Michael and Calvin, Mrs. Alf Scotchmer, Sr., and Mrs. Myron Butler. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Pruss, Janice and Charles, London, were with her mother, Mrs. J. H. Parker over Christmas, also the latter's sister, Mrs, E. Seabrook, London. They joined Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wes- ton and family for Christmas dinner, Mrs. Colin Campbell, Tor- onto, was with her daughter, Mrs. George Simons and family, Goshen Line, Stanley Township, from Friday to Sun- day. The Campbell family Christmas celebration was held at 'the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Campbell, Bronson Line on Saturday. Celebrating Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Heard on Sunday were the members of their family: Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Heard, Donald and Linda; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Kirkham, London; Mr. and Mrs. George Heard and Larry. Mr. and Mrs. Kirkham came on Saturday. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Don Haw for Christmas dinner on Sunday were his uncles with members of their families: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Heard, Lorna and Douglas, Stratford; Mr. and Mrs. Russel Heard, Bron- son Line, and William T. Heard, Blue Water Highway, Stanley Township. Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Bell and Harold Bell celebrat- ed Christmas with their young- er daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Armstrong and Julia, Zurich, Mr. and Mrs. Alan Galbraith and Janis, Mr. and Mrs. Don Bell and Mark, Clinton, joined the family and Mr. and Mrs. Bayfield ,Young Lady Back Home Pram Round-the-World Tear Miss Shirley Brandeis return-. ed last Thursday to her home in Bayfield, following a five- Inc/nth round-the-world cruise. A rough passage across the At- lantic and a delay of one day in docking at New York, in- creased her appreciation of ar- riving on land and being able to be home for Christmas. With much to tell about her trip she recalls with most int- erest her stay in. Japan, and also ten days in Spain, Which followed disembarking at Gib- raltar. Miss Brandon is a grad- uate of CDCI, and is a teacher of English and French in sec- ondary schools of Ontario. George Bell also called before going to Goderich. Mrs. Hugh McPherson, Nan- cy and Ian, Simcoe spent the weekend of December 15 with her father, James A, and Mrs. Cameron. On Christmas Day Mrs, Cameron's daughters and 'families, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Elliott, Rob Roy, Ross and St- ephen, Varna; Mr. and Mrs. R. MaeVean, Robbie and Louise and her brother John MacDon- ald and Johnny, Goderich were with them for Christmas din- ner. Misses Grace and Verna Nostbakken, Toronto have been the guests of Mr, and Mrs. Ken Ferguson. On Sun- day they accompanied the Fergusons to London to visit Ken R. Ferguson and family, and on Christmas Day they accompanied Mr. and Mrs. K, Ferguson, Bill and Della Lou to Strathroy to spend the day with Mrs. Ferguson's mother. Misses Grace and Verna Nostbakken lived on farms ad- joining the Fergusons near Aneroid, Saskatchewan. Returns From World Trip Miss Shirley Brandon, B.A., returned home last week after having enjoyed a trip around the world. She crossed from Britain on the Mauritania, which docked at New York, a day late owing to the rough crossing, and came to the home of her sister, Mrs. W. Pitblado, Oakville. Her brother-in-law, Warner Payne motored to Oakville for her on Thursday. Bayfield looked pretty good to Shirley after almost five months ab- sence. On Sunday members of the Brandon family called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Warn- er Payne for a get-together. Those from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Brandon, Greg, Lola and Gail, Beeton; Mr. and Mrs. W. Pitblado and Wendy, Oakville; Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Heard, Donald and Linda, London. (Continued on Page Seven) St. Andrew's United Church Christmas Party BAYFIELD — Nearly 100 persons attended the annual afristmas party at St, An- drew's United Church, Friday, and were treated to a very in- teresting program, While the audience was con- gregating, Mrs: Percy Renner played for the singing Of sev- eral Christmas carols and she also accompanied the children in their singing. Rev. A. G. Pease acted as chairman and presented the following children in their various numbers: David Pease, Margaret Por- ter's kindergarten class, Billie McCurdy, Leela Fletcher, El- len Lindsay, Ann McCurdy, Lynn Brandon, Allan Hohner, Dale Scotchmer, Ellen Lind- say, Ted Dunn, Marlene Scot- chimer.
