The community was saddened
by the sudden passing of a good
friend and neighbor in the per-
son of Fred Prest. The sym-
pathy of the community goes
out to his. 'daughter, Mrs.. Jr.
Thom and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Thom flew from
Rock Creek, B.C., to attend' the
funeral.
Visitors with Mr. and Mrs.
Earl Gaunt on Saturday even-
ing were Mr. and Mrs. Deer
Morrow, Owen Sound; Mn and
Mee. Ken Gaunt, Clinton; Mr.
and Mrs. Dalrymple and Donna
Louise, their infant daughter,
Egmanelville.
On Sunday evening the
Christmas service, "Festival of
Carols" will be held under
the sponsorship of the junior
and senior choirs.

Eric Collins, president of the
F & G club; Stewart Taylor,
vice-president; Cam Proctor, for
the parents; and Jim IngliS,
president of the Western On-
tario Athletic Association,
Collins'Mr. presented the jec-
kete and player Brad Dutot re-
plied for the boys, thanking the
club for spensoring the teem,
and a special thank-you to man-
ager Jeck Carter, coaches Percy
Livermore and Ron McKay.
Captain Jim Livermore 'and
co-captain Clare Magee present-
ed wool blanket to 'coach Ron
McKay who was married re-
cently.
On display were the Chesley
Rotary Club trophy which the
Clinton team won in a two-day
bantam ball tournament there
last summer, and the Chan
trophy which Clinton hoIds as
WOAA Bantam "B" champions.
Mr. Inglis also presented WOAA
crests to the players.

Selefonth where she expects to
remain for the winter months.
Elden Jarrott returned home
recently from being hospitaliz-
ed in St, Joseph's 'Hospital', Lon-
don.
Seventeen Christmas boxes
were packed and delivered to
"shut-ins" by the ladiee of St,
Andrew's United Church: Mrs,
Ross )3roadfoot, Mrs. Alex Mc-
Murtrie and Mrs. Ralph Turner
were in charge of the packing.
Mrs. Emmerson Kyle was in
charge of delivering the boxes.
UCW Re-elects Officers
St. Andrew's United Church
Women met Tuesday afternoon
with 13 present and president
Mrs, H. Jones In 'charge of the
meeting.
Mrs. Ralph Turner conducted
the worship period. Minutes
were read by the secretary, Mrs.
E. 'Consitt and the treasurer,
Vf1.1s. E. McLean gave her re-
port. The past year's projects
were discussed and plans laid
for 1963.
The 1962 executive will be
active for another year. Hostess
for the meeting was Mrs. Ross
Love, co-hostess Mrs. Harold
Jones
Concert field
The Sunday School held the
annual Christmas concert on
Monday evening, December 10
with a good attendance. The
Rev. Harold Johnston was
chairman.
Included were recitations by
Kenneth Jones, Billy Consitt
and Gregory Love, Nancy Con-
site Lynda Workman and
reading by Gwen Hendrick;
choruses by the school; the
manger scene by the kindergar-
ten class; exercises by the in-
fant class and by the . juniors;
vocal duets by Darlene and
Diane McKay, Karen and Kathy
Hendrick; musical skit "I Came
To Your Wedding"; piano solo
by Wendy Jones; two plays,
"His Best Christmas", and
"Christmas Breakfast",
The audience joined in carol
singing, and to 'duet. en guitar
and banjo was played by Grant
and Kenneth Jones. The pare!
tontinee "0 Little Town of
Bethlehetn" was presented.
Santa arrived and presented
each child with as treat and a
gift.

bora Bible Society will be held
on Sunday evening.

Miss Elma Kutch, has return-
ed to her position as clerk in
Ralph D. Munro's store after
several weeks spent at her home
with a fractured wrist.
Mr. William Anderson of Im-'
penal Oil Co. in London, spent
the weekend with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs, Oliver Anderson
and Miss Nancy.
Mrs, Stanley Strasser return-
ed home last week to Sault
Ste. Marie 'atter visiting with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wil-
liam J. 'Craig and other mem-
bers of the family.
Mr. and Mrs. William Rid-
dell, La Riviere, Manitoba, ar-
rived last weekend at Seaforth
andeere guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Clarence Walden. They plan on
staying the winter months with
relatives around Auburn.
Mr. and Mrs. Larry Sly, King-
ston, nee Joan Sheppard, are
accompanying 'her Mother, Mrs.
W. H. Sheppard, Beight's Grove
to Florida to spend the holiday
season.
Little Cynthia Wethery and
baby Eric Wethery .are still
staying with Mr. and Mrs.
Lorne Popp 'and their five
children. Mrs. Wethery is a
patient in a London hospital.
Mr. Ed Julien, who is on the
staff of the Canadian Imperial
Bank of Commerce here and at
Daegarinon is enjoying a .veca-
tion with his parents at Kirk-
land Lake.
Several from this district at-
tended the funeral this week
for the late Fred Prest who
was well known here as he was
a paper hanger and painter and
had a number of customers in
the village and surrounding
country.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Cunning-
ham and baby daughter have
taken up residence with his
sister, Mrs. Carmen Gross, Mr.
Grass and family. The Gross
farm on the 13th of Hullett
is situated across the road from
the Cunningham farm whose
house was burned to the ground
last week.
Miss Helen Youngblut is
vecationing with her parents,.
Mr. and Mrs. Major Youngblut
and family. Miss Helen gradu-
ated last week from the Wing-
in singing "Asleep While God
Comes Down".
.Sharon McBride told the
story "What Shall We Children
Bring?" and Joan Finkbeiner
gave the offering dedication
"What 'Can I Give to Him ?"
Joan Sinclair and Grant Jones
favoured with a duet, "Little
Baby Jesus".

CGIT. On TV
Seventeen Members of the
Auburn 'CGIT had a thrill last
Sunday evening when they ap-
peared on the TV program Sing
Time. They presented their
candlelight vesper service With
the president, Judy Arthur
leading the service. The -candle-
lighters were Gail Miller, Mary
Sanderson and Diane Kielccon-
nail. Others taking part were
Marjorie Youngbiut, Margaret
Sanderson, and 'a duet was sung
by Jennifer Grange and' Betty
Moss. The girls presented' 'an
anthem under the direction of
Mrs. Duncan MacKay. Miss
Barbara MacKay accompanied
on the piano. The 'combined
choirs of Knox United Church
and, the Westfield Church and
some members from Knox Pres-
byterian Church led in the sing-
ing of the Christmas carols. -
Crowd School for Concert
A gaily decorated Christmas
tree with red and green stream-
ers made a pretty setting on
Monday for the 'annual school
concert of SS• No. 16 end 11,
East Wawanoele
Mrs. Sidney Lansing . and
pupils presented an interesting
program and the music was
under the direction of the music
teacher, Mrs. Phyllis Rodger.
Bob Henry was the chairman
and the school was filled to
capacity 'for the program which
featured recitations, 'skits and
the various musical numbers.

in the program were as follows:
