Band News

Your local band is again in
the news. The Legion on Sun-
day will present the band with
a sword which will be accepted
by Misis Tisa Johnston, in
change of the colour guard since
itis inauguration. All members
of the band are ;glad that Tisa
may discard her heavy make-
believe sword to use a real, new
and shiny oho. Directors of the
Clinton +baits really ;appreciate
this gift from; the Legion and
Wish: to extend sincere thanks.
Musicians practiced Tuesday
night at the Ontario Street
United Church as the Legion
hall was booked for a social
event. Wednesday, the major-
ettes and colour party reviewed
routines and practiced a for-
mations for the presentation on
Sunday.
The band members are re-
minded to be !at the Legion hall
and seated no later than 9.30
a.m. on Sunday, November 11.
They should be in. their proper
places on the stage and wear
full uniform, clean, pressed and
have 'instruments in good play-
ing order and polished.
The maajarettes and colour
party are not expected to be at
the Legion 'hall before 11 a.m.
They will wear full summer
uniform.
The Kinsmen Club of Clinton
has announced they will sub-
scribe an amount of money to
purchase articles n`eed'ed foe the
band, Frank Cook, president of
the club, teld the band direct-
ors that .a sum not to exceed
$15 had been voted by the club
on Tuesday. This money will be
used to purchase flag poles,
harness, flag cords ,etc. We

Top Hereford:
KIPPEN — The top perform-
ance ;tested bull sold at the
sixth sale of 37 registered Here-
ford cattle ,at Stanley Jack-
son's Jaybee Hereford Farms,
brought $870. The bull was
purchased by Hertzel Bros.
Hereford! Farm, Crediton.
Average price for seven per-
formance ,tested ,bulls was $605.
Buyers were present from a
wide area, including many from
the United States, and bidding
was brisk, Mr. Jackson said.
The second top price for a
perfor finance tested bull was
$800. The bull is being export-
ed to ;Decateur, Georgia. The
average sale price on 27 bred
heifers was $398. Two top heif-
ers were bought by Ray A.
Depennier and Sons', Thames -
vele, at $520 each; 14 bred heif-
ers were sold Tor export to
Covington Georgia, and two
bred heifers brought $470 each,
when bought by John Dunlap,
Little Current, Manitoulin Isl-
and. Another, top heifer was
;purchased by H. S. Rancier and
San, Collingwood.
